The "whine" has been a known characteristic of the 10R80 in the S550.

This is nothing new and in fact the whine is more present in a brand new vehicle due to the actual cut of the internal gears. The whine subsides as the vehicle gets more accrued miles on it as those parts wear under normal operation.

This has also been documented in many Transmission and other Tech articles/documentation of the 10R80.

So after a long winter hibernation my 2022 GT Premium/ PP1 10r80 is at the dealer for the juttering when doing the tip-in in 9th or 10th gear, the keeping up with traffic thing. Feels like it should downshift but doesn't. I can feel it through the car. In an old school tranny it would seem like not enough fluid pressure to force the down shift. In Sport its just batshit crazy, hard shifting with light throttle and sometimes not shifting until RPMs are high and then lunging into the next gear. I have been avoiding Sport mode since last summer. I pointed them to the TSBs and will talk to the. Tomorrow. I asked for a hot tranny fluid level check.
I haven't even tried the other modes. Worried about causing damage. Tranny's been flashed twice for the relearning thing.

On another note those SSMs seems like Ford is preparing for the Class acton lawsuits so they can say its normal for it to behave this way. But we here know its not. Its pretty sad when my 6 year old SUV shifts way better. My wife's new Nissan Frontier with the 9 speed shifted smooth as glass and then firmed up in Sport mode. (Past tense just got written off by a distracted driver. Vehicle was parked)

Also I still can't believe that since 2018 when the low fluid issue appeared that they hadn't fixed this assmbly line issue.

I have read most things about the 10r80 and watched those repair videos for the 10r80 and believe that properly built they could be great trannys.

I hope the dealers tranny guy " who likes to solve problems" can sort this.

Stay tuned.

Affects these model year Mustangs: 2018-2023 Mustang

Summary
This article supersedes TSB 23-2152, 22-2139, 22-2102, 21-2377 and 21-2434 to update the Issue, Action and Service Procedure.

Issue: Some 2017-2023 F-150, 2018-2023 Expedition/Navigator/Mustang, 2019-2023 Ranger, 2020-2023 Explorer/Aviator/Transit and 2021-2023 Bronco vehicles equipped with a 10R60 transmission and built on or before 23-Dec-2022 or with a 10R80/10R80MHT transmission and built on or before 15-Aug-2022 may exhibit a harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift. It is possible the vehicle may also have an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0751, P0752, P0756, P0757, P0761, P0762, P0766, P0767, P0771, P0772, P2700, P2701, P2702, P2703, P2704, P2705, P2707, P2708, P0729, P0731, P0732, P0733, P0734, P0735, P0736, P076F, P07D9, P07F6 and/or P07F7 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM). This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module (PCM) or transmission control module (TCM), the transmission solenoid ID strategy, sticking valves in the main control valve body and/or axial movement of the CDF clutch cylinder (7H351) sleeve. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to identify and correct the condition.

Is this the first TSB that mentions the CDF sleeve?

Not yet. I have to schedule for a day off so I can show them because last time they "couldn't replecate the problem". Just last night I Sport mode the 3 -4 shift felt like I had been renewed. Tranny was cold. When hot it manifests differenty. I let the forum know for sure.

Whenever my ecu gets reset or adaptives reset and the car is “relearning” my driving habits, my 3-4 and 4-5 shifts feel like the trans is gonna drop out of the car it slams so hard lol but only in the sport modes, normal is fine. But after about 3 or 4 decent drives it smooths out and doesn’t happen anymore.

Ya. They didn't reset on my last visit and cause I was pissed off I started driving exclusively in Sport mode with the angry thought if it blows up its covered by warranty. When warm and driving slow in traffic it chugs on deceleration and harsh shifts on light acceleration.

Trannys are not supposed to behave that way.
