Those priorities are irrelevant unless you two ordered from the same dealer and before one was scheduled.

The priority codes you are talking about only effect orders from the same dealer. A 19 from one dealer could be built well before a 10 from another. The priority doesn't even tell you where your order falls among other orders from your dealer. You'd have to know the priorities of the other orders from your dealer to be sure where yours falls. The only thing you know for sure from your priority number is that orders from the same dealer with a higher number than yours will likely be built after yours and even that's not certain since there can be holds on various options/paint and options like stripes happen after the build and can add days or weeks to the ship date.

I ordered a 2017 Mustang on may 31 at Galpin. I was told today by a salesman that he knows nothing about the signal lights on the hood being deleted or the painted black wheels in the black accent package being changed. Whats up with that? Just curious if anyone had any news update on the 2017 mustang GT. This salesman did not

When my order got bumped from a 2016 to a 2017 I had asked what the changes would be since you can't even find official 2017 pictures online. The dealer told me the only difference were that 3 exterior colors were being discontinued and 3 new colors were being added. Also the passenger side window would now have one touch up capabilities. Although the dealer didn't coment on the signal lights on the hood being removed, I believe someone else in the forum cited a source that said they were being removed from the 2017 models.

Plants don't build "off the line" - the pre-production builds happen right on the assembly line. That's the whole point of the plant launch process. Handbuilt prototypes don't teach you what you need to know to build the car in that facility on that assembly line with that workforce. Ford has a "pilot plant" in SE MI that builds the handbuilt prototypes for every model, but all the Continentals FRAP is building now will be built right on the assembly line with the Mustang.

Maybe I should've used a different word but when I used the word "off" the line i meant to say from the line itself from the factory(FRAP). Never meant it to mean as in some off site facility.

You will get a VIN once the car gets scheduled to build...Ford hasn't pulled your order out of the order queue yet.

You could write a doctoratal dissertation on the rules Ford uses to determine the order cars get built in

Basically, your dealer gets its cars on a set priority based on how many Mustangs they sell-the more they sell, the sooner their cars come up.

Then, the cars that your dealer orders for their inventory usually take priority over custom orders. Then, if there's space left in your dealer's allocation pool, your car will come up to build (as long as no one else at your dealer has a higher priority order than you-your dealer assigns your order a priority of between 10 and 19, 10 being highest priority).

Build dates are subject to parts holds, too...let's say Ford's convertible top vendor can only build 2,000 tops a month (hypothetical). That means that if more than 2,000 verts are ordered that month, there will be a parts hold on any verts beyond 2,000, and the order won't get pulled until there's a fresh pool of convertible tops next month.

All in all, for 2016, I'd say most of us who custom ordered got our cars within 8-12 weeks (except people who ordered California Specials, as those cars get sent offsite to a specialty completion shop after they're built to apply the custom graphics!). Some people who ordered verts in the middle of winter also experienced really long waits this last year...

I'm in the same situation. Build date was 6/3 and as of Friday Deysha from FordService advised still waiting on a shipping eta.
For the guys/girls that have ordered mustangs previously, how long does it usually take to go from being built to being shipped?
I'm hoping to have it in time for a local car show on the 24th.
