Guess I won't go to Watertown Ford for a GT350R. For not that much more I can custom order a Viper ACR, or for that matter, get a CPO'd GT3. Love the GT350/R, but come on.

People can get vipers below INVOICE all day long. Its NOT that its NOT a great track car it just that the demand for that car is extemely low. If it wasnt, it would command ADM or at least msrp.
If the 350R is your type car, go for it. Both will lose money but choose which one you'll have the most fun in because ultimately, thats all that matters.
One should at least be able to find a 20k adm on the r. Thats without looking hard. Look hard and a 10k is out there. Even harder and maybe a better deal. One recently got msrp (unicorn lotto pick).

Whether you are willing to pay ADM or not will be irrelevant it a year or so. Fast forward a couple years when they are only available used and the only judgement you can make will be if the market value matches the intrinsic value to each buyer.

Many of the same arguments will apply of car X vs. car Y for similar $$$. I would wager that an R still holds more value then than a similar year Z06 or Viper. Regardless, I'd love to own all three at some point.

So far I am resisting all the hype and temptation of doing that. I almost had myself talked into a R but took some time to think about it and straighten my head.
My initial thoughts were comparing the GT350R to the Cobra R's of yesterday. It is really not an equal comparison because the Cobra R's were only produced 1 year, with less 100, 250, and 300 produced. So much lower production numbers. If Ford only produces the GT350 for 2015, 2016, 2017 the numbers will be more inline with the Boss and Boss Leguna Seca. With this comparison I am expecting the same market trends and values to apply to the GT350 as the Boss and Boss LS long term. Especially once the GT500 arrives. A large part of the GT350 owners that bought the car to have the best Mustang will trade up to the new best Mustang.
If all of this holds true as almost always has with Ford and Mustang models since 93 I'll settle for waiting a year or two to pick up my GT350R without the 20k markup.
To a lot the money is well spent to order the car that they want and pick it up brand new in perfect condition. That isn't me and out of the 20+ Mustangs and Cobra's I have bought, only 1 has been brand new. I splurged returning to the US from a 1 year assignment in Iceland.

I could place an order now, but we are starting the remodeling of our house(major redo) and I told myself I would not buy something till after it was done. I think I'm due since my DD is a '97 Astro van :doh: But, this car has me twisted all sorts of mid-life crisis ways, and I've not been this wound up and excited about a car in a very very long time.

So I think I'll wait. Might be a bit hard to find a RR/R with black roof used though ;-)

Anything is possible. I bought my 03 10th anniversary with 2500 miles on it and saved $17k over new, I bought my 2010 Shelby 6 months old with 9k miles on it and saved $15k over new. These prices are under not MSRP. So in today's cases with ADMs that money is gone plus depreciation.
The media hype is very great with this car. Ford is doing a much better marketing job now than they used too.
Let's not forget a large part of these articles we read online or in print are entities that are heavily subsidized my manufactures.
We all talk about ADM's and why would Ford price the car at X and allow the dealers to sell it for Z over MSRP leaving profit on the table. In my opinion this is just another marketing scheme for generating excitement and demand for the car. Ford is a multi-billion dollar company. They know what they are doing, and don't just leave money on the table.
Everyone not being able to get one at will drives longer term demand and keeps the price up over time. Ford hasn't made the same mistake twice as they did with the terminators. We all know the discounts that the end of the run terminators had on them.

I just got back from the dealer and we walked through the process fro a 2017 350. I am going to wait until later in the year to time the availability for next spring. The dealer gave me the worksheet shows MSRP of $54,295 which what others have said. That does not include the $900 destination and delivery charge or the $1,300 gas. guzzler tax.

Here are a couple questions:
1. We configured it with the convenience package and it shows $3,000. Yet is does not show what has been on this board - the other $3,000 for the Electronics Package does not show. The major product changes sheet clearly states that the convenience package includes the Electronics package --- ideas?

2. I was given a brochure that clearly says 2017 yet the spoiler on one looks like a track pack (not sure if this was different than the 350R) the other looks like what would have been stock on a 2016 350. The front page of the changes sheet I have clearly states that Raised Decklid Spoiler is Standard. I am not sure if I want this. I have had cars in the past where all you see is spoiler looking out the rear view mirror. Is that the case in this car?

I can't speak to visibility with the track spoiler, but it is standard for MY17. If you find that you don't like it, I'm sure you could easily find someone on here with a base/Tech MY16 that would swap with you. There were 3 spoilers, base/Tech which is a small "lip" style, Track which is a raised "ducktail"-like spoiler and the R which is a huge wing.

As far as the packages go, they're mutually exclusive. The wording is funky but the only difference between the two are the seats, manual Recaros vs powered, climate controlled sport bolstered seats. It's up to you if you want the harness holes in the seat and more steep bolstering or if you want motorized seats that can heat and cool themselves with a little less bolstering. Pick which one you want if you want all the extra tech gadgetry, the price is the same $3k either way.

The visibility with the Track Pack spoiler is perfectly fine. I have absolutely no problems looking back through the rear view mirror. No need to worry there.
