Yup, reading signatures is a good place to start.
My car is primarily used for commuting, 40 miles round trip with a little highway in the early morning and a twisty 2 lane on the way home. I tend to take my own advice so I started with the chassis. EBPP brakes and some chassis stiffening were first. Next came the springs, shocks, struts and rear cradle parts. Next up are sway bars and k brace. By then the stock tires should be getting thin so wheels and tires would be upgraded. Then I'll worry about power, intercooler first, downpipe, catback and then a tune to finish it off.
Thanks! I'm thinking of doing the intercooler upgrade first and since I have very limited mechanical experience and it looks like a good place to start and get comfortable under the hood. The cp-e intercooler on cjponyparts.com looks like the best stock intercooler replacement. https://www.cjponyparts.com/cp-e-in...t-delta-core-ecoboost-2015-2018/p/FDCK00004T/

I'd give either Adam Brunson at Tune Plus or Alex at Stratifeid an email and explain what your goals are. They have tuned for so many different configurations, they will be able to give you advice on what combination of parts you need to get your desired results. There are other tuners out there, but those two seem to be the most popular.

I had Adam at Tune plus tune my Fiesta ST. I got the lifetime tune, because I knew at some point, I'd upgrade and need a different tune. Adam typically responds within a day or so with his revisions. Since he reorganized his business, he devotes most of his time for tuning and I do believe has other employees do the engine building, etc. I started out with hybrid turbo on a 91 octane tune along with a E30 tune and got 256 whp with it. Went to aux fuel and that needed a new tune which netted me 298 whp. I then went to a big turbo, Garrett Gen II GTX2860R turbo which needed another tune and went to 330 whp with E40. I could have gone more, but I wanted a balance of power and engine longevity. Good luck.

Thanks! What's the typical going rate for these services? I'm totally new to all of this so I'm sorry if these are noob questions.
Edit : https://www.tuneplusinc.com/collect...-power-package-for-2015-ford-ecoboost-mustang looks like I found one that gets me exactly where I want to be. A good stable point with more power that I can expand on in the future.

Tuneplus seems to be a little more user friendly and I remember watching Matt Maran talk about tuneplus. I'm leaning towards them. Do you get to keep the inclement weather drive mode with the tune installed?

I'd ask the tuner that you go with. I'm unfamiliar with the Mustang Ecoboost platform so I don't know. In the Fiesta ST, the traction/stability control was a separate button and the tune did not alter that function. I just wish that with the 5.0 Mustang that we could get similar actions like the Cobb Accessport has for the Ecoboost platform, such as multiple maps on the fly.

Hi everyone, it's been another late night of lurking the forums and I finally came up with a few questions to ask.

So I've got an Ecoboost Mustang 6AT that I'd like to start modding. I use it as my daily driver for getting to and from work and aspire to take the car to a track or autocross one day (this wouldn't be very frequent). I don't have a lot of experience with car engines but would like to get hands on with some of the upgrades. I'd like to make the car a bit more powerful while minimizing my risk of "ecoboom".

My plan is to upgrade the car in two phases. Based on what I've been reading here I should be able to get away with a Cold Air Intake and a stage one tune. I'd like some advice on which combination to go with?

My second phase would be to buy an intercooler and possibly add an exhaust. I just need to find a shop in NYC that would be willing to handle that. I don't really know how to search for that.

Also one last question just popped into my head while finishing this. What are the benefits and costs of using a built engine in the event of an engine failure after these upgrades? Is it really worth it?

Thanks for reading my late night questions!

Edit : Thanks for all of your input guys. I'm currently researching intercoolers and so far I've decided that for now it's best to go with a stock replacement intercooler. I'm having trouble determining a real difference between the Mishimoto on cjponyparts and others that are on sale beside them. After I get the intercooler installed I'll start researching pro lifetime tunes. Once again I appreciate all of your help!
Go with an intercooler, downpipe, exhaust, and tune. For a tune I recommend going with a Lund Racing tune and Ngauge package available here at @LethalPerformance! I had a 2015 Ecoboost mustang with full bolt-ons and have a lot of prior knowledge about them and what mods to run. Please feel free to shoot me a message or give us a call and I will be glad to assist you on your build! https://www.lethalperformance.com/

All good suggestions. I repeat a prior post that if you're considering tracking it, brake upgrade is a must. I ended up with GT brakes, Castrol SRF fluid, upgraded pads, Steeda two-piece rotors.

Thanks for this! I'm still currently in the research phase but will definitely consider it.

After the intercooler, forget everything else but chassis/diff/brake mods. Then work on Driver mods. I have the Wagner IC and my IAT is typically less than 5F over what the ambient sensor claims.

Tune should be the absolute LAST thing to do IMO. That said (yes, I'm a hypocrite) I had Unleashed send me a tune. The engine pulls so much better than stock it's not funny, and it actually stays out of (excess) boost until the engine can actually do something with it. With an A6/A10 throttle feel is probably not as important as a M6, and it's not uncommon for a tuner to get aggressive with the throttle inputs which is just fracking annoying when you're trying to feather. I like to roll into throttle, not have gratuitous knees in the curve or lightswitch behavior.

For giggles I tried a 93oct performance map from a different provider. It was an abomination. Hair-trigger throttle made pulling away from a stop impossible except in 2nd gear. Rev hang that was just uncalled for (not as bad as Ford's hideous V6 tune though, which isn't saying much) 20psi of boost and full throttle and the car was lazy as can be.

I can't vouch for Lund or PBD personally but lots of people swear by them (met a guy the other day who runs a 9sec twin-turbo V8, and goes to DragWeek every year). My point is that some tunes can be bad, and some can be wonderful. Be mindful of who you choose. Me, I'm sticking with Torrie.

While I'm still figuring out which tune I really want to go with I picked up an MBRP Black series Street Exhaust during the American Muscle Fathers day sale. I've been doing a lot of research lately and I think I'm going to get the W350 package from Tuneplus. It seems like the most comprehensive thing to go with. I already have the k&n filter so I sent an email asking about the worth of me getting an access port before I even get anything else and loading a base tune on that. I'm waiting for the reply now.

I just wanted to thank you all for your input so far and I'm hopefully going to have a shop to take my car to for the big upgrades. I've seen many recommendations for stronger brakes like the GT package but I'm worried about how complicated it would be to switch over to that. I'll ask the guys at the shop on Thursday if they can handle it. In the meantime are there any recommendations for replacement pads / rotors for the interim? I'm looking at the powerstop set that American Muscle sells. They seem to be slotted and drilled which would be cool to have.

it's downright trivial. bolt off, bolt on, bleed brake lines. You can find LOTS of 4-pot takeoffs from folks here and on ebay. There are also many a thread on brake pads and which are good for street and dust less. Check the appropriate sub-section.

The GT brakes are the same ones that Ford installs on the EB with performance package. It's a simple replacement.

Thanks! I think I should just go straight for that then when its time to get new ones. I have the Premium so I think those are the 19inch wheels iirc. That should fit the GT brakes right?

Yes, my perform pack came with 19 inch wheels, so you're good to go. And stop. :D

Sweet! I’m going for the Tune Plus W350 build this weekend. With the COVID ongoing I’m going to focus on the car.
