Not only that but have you seen android auto? It's a gamechanger
its about time automakers start using mobile hardware and software. Otherwise everyones reinventing the wheel and doing a terrible job at it.

Meh current MFT works perfectly ok for most. Changing the radio station, making or receive a phone call. Change climate controls. I don't find it bad to use at all and I'm a very tech forward person.

My opinion has always been less distracting crap in the car, people are already bad enough drivers

Yeah but the distraction is my biggest complaint! In my Fusion, I can easily switch between FM and Satellite since I listen to B&T in the morning but don't like to listen to the commercials. Of course it doesn't have a touchscreen, but it is still way easier and more reliable than MFT. I frequently have to hit buttons twice and always have to look for it instead of feel. Also if I'm going over any bumps in the road I end up hitting the wrong button. Some of that is inherent with a touchscreen, but if the voice recognition was worth a crap then I'd use that and be completely safe. That's just one example. I think CarPlay or whatever Google is calling theirs will be most excellent especially for Nav! I can tell Siri anything and she will figure it out. :)

I will say that after spending about 45minutes toying with MFT at the dealer today (the longest time I've ever personally used the system hands-on) that the voice recognition wasn't horrible. I'd press the button and say "90s on 9" or "Dial XYZ" and it would work pretty damn well. Much better than I anticipated.

But of course that's all relative - compared to Google Now/Cortana/Siri it's not even a contest; those will be 10x better.

could say that a faster more responsive infotainment is less distracting

Absolutely it is. I mean it's a nice improvement in function and performance, but my lord, its interface looks as if designed by Fisher-Price for toddlers "my very first touch screen".

Maybe you can at least change the colors possibility, that would make it look better perhaps.

It is ugly, but with updating with wifi, there may be updates to help with this.

I am hoping it gets unlocked by modders, only issue I can see though is it "can connect to any open wifi", which means, if it does automatically, it can just login, update, do whatever it wants when it wants, probably without you knowing.

Yeah the light blue background with white icons is horrid, but there is a night-mode which turns it black and it looks 100x better.
