Hi Guys,

So my car is at 2600 miles and have developed this ticking noise shown in the video. It's more audible when at the passenger side cause there's a car next to it and the sound resonates.

I've looked through some videos on the forums and some people say it's normal, but here the thing. The tick is also audible when I'm passing by cars next to me or driving next to a divider. I can tell that the tick rhythm speeds up with the RPM, and it does get louder the higher the rpm goes until the engine noise drowns it out.

I'm going to drop the car off at a dealership this weekend but want to know if anyone's experienced my situation.

Trust me from someone who had a ticking engine that's normal.

It sounds like your lifters are just doing their job.we don't have the quietest engine but for what's going on inside its remarkable it's not louder than that. Engine drone might be drowning out anything the camera would have captured but otherwise what's on there sounds fine.

Look up "bbq tick" on this forum and see my thread on it. That's a tick lol. Eventually ford replaced my engine after uncle BBB got involved

I don't hear anything. Could be just slightly louder injectors.

Thanks for the input guys. It's just really audible at night, driving by myself on an empty street with windows rolled down and no music, and all I hear is that ticking. Maybe time I get a catback.

I couldn't hear anything unusual in the video. Not sure if that requires a higher quality microphone. Also you should rev the engine to show the sound changes with RPM

Yep, the dealer service said they don't hear anything abnormal. Just me being paranoid I guess!

Does it increase with engine speed, gear changes or road speed? Could be transmission or ABS sensor? I had an older car with a binding ABS sensor that ticked/ clicked.. It was directly related to wheel speed, not transmission gears or engine rev speed.

It's not related to wheel speed. When revving while idle the noise also speeds up.
