We're still being told mid-May to start ordering '15 Mustangs. Keep in mind that this is for system fill well in advance of production starting in mid-August. Customer special orders won't get scheduled for several weeks after stock inventory is being scheduled, so ordering in May won't really speed up anything.

Based on past history and your experience, would you say special orders might not get fulfilled for a month or longer after the stock inventory?

Exactly correct, Tony. We see it with every new model, every new model year. There is always a lag between stock inventory scheduling and the beginning of retail order scheduling for customers. The rationale being that if there are problems with early cars, it won't be customers' cars messed up or delayed.

Talked to Ford yesterday at Barrett Jackson and they said ordering opens during the summer as well.

I was told the same thing.

Thats a very nice low mileage example, but im sure you can get that for 5+k less..

That is actually my local dealer (I drive past quite often), and yes I am sure I could get them down to 39 and change.

2015 ordering has been pushed back to May 20th, sorry to say. Job 1 is still showing as August 11th, though.

The order date isn't a big issue.... If the job 1 date slips ford is going to get awfully close to launching this car in winter. Typically not the best marketing situation for a rwd sports car in most of the country.

The latest update I got from some helpful guys on Blue Oval:

Just had a Mustang Group manager from Flat Rock MAP attending a Mustang Anniversary Party here at Wayne Aker`s Ford here is South FL last Thurs evening on Apr. 17. He confirmed, that the Order Scheduling and the Order Guide Process has been delayed for about 1 Month. Things could always change, but I got that from one of the "Horses" mouth last week!
