I have a hard time believing a GT350 coming in at $45K when a loaded GT is pricing that right now on Ford's website. Maybe $55K - $65K is closer to reality.

Not really a fair comparison when you have to add performance AND luxury options to get the GT to $45,000. If the SVT model sticks to a performance first strategy and eschews luxury it shouldn't be too difficult to keep the price down. I am looking for a Boss successor, not a GT500.

and now everyone go off to Autoblog and/or Motor Trend and read all of the comments saying something along the lines of:

"So ugly!!! Why is it covered?? Tractor axle car is terrible!! My V6 Camaro will smoke that!! Why is it dirty?? STUPID FORD!!!"

Edit: Just checked Autoblog. I was right....
There is some toolbag on there saying Ford doesn't build the GT500, people buy them as GTs and ship them off to Shelby. This is one reason I wish Ford would just retire the Shelby name, because of all the confusion. Oh well I guess it doesn't matter in the long run.

Nobody mentioned that the tail lights are different than the regular Mustang tail lights they've shown so far?

The surround isn't black. There is no trim around each individual light. That little ledge below each light is not present. Maybe it's missing a trim piece that's black and snaps over what is shown on this car. In the picture of this car behind the other, it looks like that car also doesn't have a black surround trim on in.

Hmmmmm.

Likely parts bin exterior parts while they are doing powertrain testing. The S550 originally wore a full 2013-14 body while testing the suspension.

If they can change the front end up slightly I will be totally on board, depending on what they can do with it. Some of the sketches we have seen in other pictures look really good. I have to wonder if they were meant for one of these variants.

And those tires, man. They definitely been listening to some complaints and addressing them.

My guess too. Exciting, as brakes have always been the cars weak point.

You won't be able to see what kind of brake pads or fluid is in there, or what methods of cooling just by looking through the wheel spokes. The actual hardware from Brembo has always been very good since the option became available on the GT in 2011 and later the Boss, to the 15" Brembos on the '13+ GT500. If Ford can spec proper track pads and fluid for whatever PP or track packages come out then the existing hardware will really shine.

I believe there will be a GT350 and a GT350R. Ford Racing could build a "Spec" like they did with the Boss 302S. However, I think the GT350R will be spec'd like the Boss 302S but carry a R# designation like the Boss 302R1 in GS.

I would like to see a Street Fighter (Base model) GT350 that does not carry any bad equipment. The "R" could assume the "Carbon" position within Mustang. You should be able to option each out though, with alternative race equipment... maybe some of the tech stuff as well. Why not offer it and left the buyer decide.

I would be happy with a Street Fighter GT350 for $45,000. It would solve the GT or GT350 dilemma. I could see a OEM GT350R being $10-15k over the GT350.

I would also like a proper Mustang GT.R too... I mean a spec'd GT...

I say...

2015 GT350 (Street Fighter) $47,998
2015 GT350.R $57,998 (Undercut the Z51 Stingray)
2015 GT350.R1 $90-130,000 (Spec'd from R1 and up) 65 per year
2015 GT350 50th Anniversary CONVERTIBLE ($65,417) 1965 total production. Include the roll bar please!! This will be a separate GT350 anniversary model. Different than the 50th cars.

Besides the 66 gt350S, how many sc mustangs had a scoop?

It is the 50th aniv of the gt350, a stripped down, high winding small block "finesse" comp car. Motorsport heritage. 2017 will be the aniv of the gt500... musclecar heritage.
Bah had a total brain fart, that's what I get for posting first thing in the morning. You're right and of course and it was the one that was most obvious that escaped me. Anyhow my thinking was it makes sense to offer a FI Coyote while they develop new powertrains that would be offered in a few years. Then again, if it is a niche engine development like the Trinity it really would have little bearing on the regular product line.

A fully optioned 2013/2014 GT with a Track Package and Recaros can go over $40K. I doubt a GT350 would be $45K.
