Right, ecoboost.

I'm not interested in the ecoboost. I'm talking about the GT.
I see. Apologies. You are very much right. It's like 20 hp difference.
Besides the hot climate which does not quite fit Europe, it could be the emission regulations.
Like a 5.0 engine with 435 hp has too many co2 grams for the EU to like(the ones that decide the imports). Maybe 415 hp is within regulations.
Or maybe it's been downgraded, like softer pistons or stuff like that.
For example BMW has 28i and 20i engines. While they are 2.0 l engines, a simple tuning will not get 20i to the power of 28i because the 28i has stronger internals and etc.
I see no reason to downgrade, it but apparently they saw...

I can't believe we're making such a fuss over some tail lights, and nobody has mentioned anything about the fact we have been robbed of horsepower!

Hi DB,
Where do you live ? 'Place' seems to be a nice country :)
GT is great but for most of the Europeans tax wise a No GO...except if you have unlimited budgets..or if you think you're not providing sufficient tax support to your country :headbonk:

On the other end if you are US/Canada based you can enjoy the Iconic RED taillights part of the mustang since 64 1/2. It seems we can't without MODding a couple of things ....that's what we are investigating and that's why all the fuzz about taillights...

I'm sure there are many other threads regarding difference of HP between US and EU GT. This instead is about the tail lights.. power is not the only things that matters :)

Like Untamed67 says, euro countries are money-hungry and most of us can't afford to pay the huge amount of taxes these 'robberments' wants from us car lovers. So we mainly go with ecoboost model and be happy.

But we also like to have the real thing regarding the image of a real american pony car. I don't want a super-powerful car that instead of a Mustang, appears like a Fiesta..!!

We've had this discussion previously. Apparently we are not being robbed on hp but it is the different way it is measured in the US compared to Europe

How come ecoboost is the same in the US and EU, but the V8 is measured differently?

I know US uses 93 AKI, but from wiki we could say that's around 98 RON here.
Maybe the euro power was measured with 95 RON.
Still 20 hp. In any case, I believe emissions to be a factor and maybe the fuel octane.

I'm really not bothered about 20hp when you still have 415 but the crappy tail lights do piss me off.

Just beggars belief that Ford couldn't be bothered to find a simple solution to make them look good and comply with our regulations.

Depends on the regulations. Here it would be allowed to have the inner two be red and the outer one either white or ember. ( depending where the blinker is located). But in order to make that look any good they either have to be all ember or white as they are now. Many countries with varying regulations.

Its the way the horsepower is tested. There is no loss!

I understand people not being able to afford one due to taxes and what not, and i feel for you. I'm not exactly wealthy, but my way of doing things with everything in life, is if i'm going to do something, then i'll do it right. If your going to buy a muscle car, then buy the muscle that comes with it. If i can't afford the right one, i'll get something else, or wait and get a second hand one in a year.

I don't see what the big issue is with the tail lights though. Yes, there ugly as sin on this car, they should be red. But do you know how easy it is to tint the lenses red. At least there still tri-bar, and red when lit up. But, i do understand looks are more important to some. I'm more pissed about the stupid rear view mirrors. Nothing you can do there but replace them with US ones, and that won't be cheap!

And yes, the EU model does come with less power than the US model, its not how the horsepower is measured. Otherwise the ecoboost model would also show a substantially lower horsepower rating, but it doesn't. I can only assume they had to sacrifice some power to bring fuel consumption down for tax purposes in some european countries.

I have been researching it a bit, and hopefully its just a remap away, and hey presto back to what it should be.

I'd honestly wait until its released before commenting on horsepower.

I've seen it listed as 435, 420, 414 and 412.

So god only knows. Could be an old ride on mower under the hood for all the information Ford is giving us.

[ /QUOTE]

at least in Europe we can have electrically power folding rear mirrors.

speaking of the rear tail lights.... I just wonder if I tint the plastic cover of the lights in red the rear turning lights would still be in amber or red..

I would respectfully disagree with you. Mustang is by definition a pony car, not a muscle car. I think the only "right" way to buy a pony car is to get the one you want and enjoy every minute of it. GT is not the "proper" car to have, nor is the EB. It's just whatever floats your boat :)

My only concern with the mirror replacement is that if the glass is stolen I have to wait for an US one to be brought, and insurance will surely not cover it...
If the whole mirror is stolen...then I'm screwed...

I was thinking of tinting the tail lights even if they were red. I wonder how they would look tinted while white. I could live with that, but I want my damn brake/signal on all three! :D

And i still believe that IF the EU GT has less power, is due to emissions. Or at least one reason that is.

To each there own. When i google muscle car, the first thing that comes up is a Boss 429.
And it was actually the 1950's ford thunderbird that was the original pony car. They call the mustang the first because there was a long period where that segment was empty. The mustang came after lots of attempts at trying to fill the segment, but the ford thunderbird was the original.
