I think the key reason is because the numbers went backward from last year. Had they stayed the same, it would have been a non issue.

But yeah, I couldn't care less what they are. I got a V8 sports car to drive a sports car, not stare at my MPG meter.
Staring at the MPG meter just elicits confusion and slight annoyance ...especially on the cars that have Eco "Bars" that show how "Eco" you are being.

I've been going 80 and the bars been nearly filled (rolling hills) versus 65 on the same road with the bar being only 60% full

Although it is slightly amusing to reset it and coast to watch it skyrocket into the 60s :D

These EPA numbers are more of a "lessons learned" exercise (my opinion). What I've actually seen from driving S550 is considerably better in both city and highway. Then again, I sometimes drive like a grandma.

Ok we are going to have to hear more about that...

First off, what were you seeing in actual driving?

Oh boy it's what I've said from the start...Ford isn't going to make a mistake again with EPA rating..

So since the Mustang has a 15 gallon tank, if you were to get 3.55 gears what is the difference in MPG vs the standard 3.15...maybe 15 miles total difference on a fill up between gear differences if that?

It's actually 16 gallons with the exception of the EcoBoost which is 15.5 gallons.

OK...answer the main part of my question.. :D
Hehe, sorry. I don't really know what the answer would be to it. My current has the 3.15's in it and I get ~300 miles per tank depending on how I drive. I've managed to get over 320 a couple of times on longer, mostly highway trips.

I got (2) Refund Checks from Ford for my 2013 C-Max SE Hybrid to prove it! One for $550 and another for $475.

Really? I would have thought you'd get way better on highway trips. If you have a 16 gallon tank and are getting say 320, that's only 20 mpg on the highway and the Mustang (I assume you have a 2012-14) is in the mid 20s.

That's with me filling it up when the warning lights start appearing, usually around 14 gallons on the refill. 320/14 = 22.8MPG. If I were really careful, I know it could do quite a bit better. I've seen the gauge show ~25MPG on multiple occasions, but then I ruin it by have a bit of fun or having too high of an average highway speed.

OK as I was looking at the C&D review of the Mustang I saw this on their site.

http://blog.caranddriver.com/2015-d...sed-report-says-chrysler-dynod-car-at-825-hp/

A 4488 curb weight Challenger gets 22 MPG combined and yet our GT Mustangs can't get better then 21 combined? This car weighs more then 730+ lbs heavier and it's getting better combined MPG!?!

What gives here that I'm missing?
The Challenger hell cat gets 13/22 mpg city/highway. 22 is highway
