A Fusion that added 100 pounds of muscle and caught rabies!

I have to admit when I saw this picture the other day for a second I was wounding why the grille looked different on the second Mustang till I realized it was a Fusion

I have to agree with DivineStrike. As much as we want to believe they increased efficiency but are just reporting it differently, it's still mostly irrelevant. The numbers are how people compare, and it's one more thing the competition will use to throw in our face. And they'll be right.
I'm confused how THAT is what is relevant and not real world numbers. Are you guys really all concerned about how it is marketed against the competition? Let marketing worry about the bragging rights. All I care about with EPA is how often I have to go to the pump.

Even if you remove the competition of the the equation completely. You still have to explain the reduction in the numbers. If you promote that it's lower than the previous generation, people in general are just going to be turned off and shop somewhere else. That is why, it would be a good idea for Ford to lower the EPA #'s for the previous Gen as well, as it will promote the New product as being better in all areas. This not only goes for the GT but the EB as well. If indeed all this is a correction, than lowering last years V6 will show the new EB as even more of an improvement.

I'm sure it will be explained. What then? It doesnt change how it will be in real use. I don't trust anything on a sticker anyway so why not let the salespeople worry about that. Same reason I'm waiting for the car to be dyno'd.

For the same reason Ford is in a lawsuit to begin with. Because most consumers care about what's on the sticker. Not everyone is you, just because you don't care,, doesn't mean the general population doesn't either.

I can't believe that anyone is actually relying on the sticker of claimed mpg... if its anyone to be bitching at would be the EPA with their "controlled" variable testing and the fuel (non ethanol) they use... regardless of what is stated it also says actual mpg will vary.. that means climate... heat, cold, humidity, barometric pressure, altitude, FUEL, tires, road conditions, driving habits....seriously... you know what you want as I want a v8... I know the consequences of it are, the fuel economy is still better than my truck, I like the thrill of driving it... this will be my first mustang converting over from an Audi TT Quattro. IF YOU ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THE MUSTANGS FIGURES THEN GO FIND ANOTHER SPORTS CAR THAT HAS THE WHOLE PACKAGE LIKE THE MUSTANG!!! Enough of the bickering about it, not many other sports cars get you all of this at just under 43k depending on all the options you choose. You just don't find a new car as nostalgic as this. Especially being 50 years like when I bought my Audi TT as a new type of car almost exactly the same as it was as a concept car. I can only imagine y'all will be griping about the other car because it lost 1mpg... people, get flippin real. If you are not a real gear head and you really don't understand what can be achieved then stop... just stop... I don't care if you like the v6, v8 or the ecoboost... its your choice, your money... there are alot worse new cars out there with almost the same mpg and they are a v6 or even turbocharged with just as much mpg as the V8 by only 2 to 4 mpg... that is absolutely nothing! Anyways, my rant.. stay positive about the mustang or find a different one and go to their forum and bitch about it there... have a great weekend... mine is gonna be a Sea-Doo weekend

Why do we have to stay positive about the Mustang for one? If you're nothing but positive about a vehicle how will the manufacturer know how and where to improve?

Two, it's perfectly acceptable to discuss what Ford has said about improvements and what they have and haven't achieved in regards to them. Or how they came about these numbers.

However I get your point and I agree, this has been discussed to death.

Friend at work has a 14 GT with track pkg and the 3.73 gears... He says he gets about 21 to 25 mpg mostly on service roads next to the tollways... He was getting just as much when he got it off the lot but he had a tune done too... If you have alot of spirited driving habbits... of course you are going to have worse MPG... what people should know is the reasoning behind the adjusted numbers.... The true MPG will be when you get your car at your own place and driving habbits. may be better than or worse

I get all that you're saying Seebee, it's not the actual value that bothers me. I know for sure it's going to be fine and even if it were lower, I couldn't care from a "having to buy gas' perspective.

The issue is only that I have to listen to Bow Tie Bigots, "Ha your new heavy pig Fusion-wannabe gets worse mpg than last years model." They aren't ones to listen to reason or logic. Granted, they're only saying it to get under my skin, but it definitely works.

Keep in mind it's just a friendly ribbing sort of thing and not something I really worry about, I only bring it up because it's something to talk about and it's a slow news day. What I have to do now is work on my return Zings so I'm prepared for them.

If they like snap-tite vehicles then more power to them... I've been in Chevy before never again as far as fleet... same way and materials is sub par and extremely cheap... I've seen some with bumpers flapping in the wind...... like bad vibrations or something... I've seen popped off stuff on there as well... yes camaro

Hey guys, my first post here.
I'm a Swede living and working in Milan, Italy, and I've been dreaming about owning a Mustang since I was a kid but it's just never been possible, mainly due to the insane amounts of taxes you'd end up paying even on the V6.
To not mention the fact that you'd have to do a lot of work to the car to actually get with various road regulations here.

The Tax, road tax and insurance is generally speaking calculated on the size of the engine here so you can only imagine what a GT would end up costing me here..

I'm extremely excited about the EcoBoost (Worst name ever.. ?), which no doubt has been made with us Europeans in mind, now the car of my dreams will finally be a financially viable option.

I looked into it a few years ago, importing, paying tax for and doing all the work that needed to be done to be able to drive a Stang V6 here would've set me back roughly the same as an entry level Porsche.

Just out of curiosity, how reliable are these EPA numbers? I've got to be honest, I expected slightly better numbers for the EB.
