Anyone buying a Mustang mainly for track days?

I put my 1992 VW GTI through the track paces a couple of months ago for the first time ever. However, the old technology did not like it and I have a couple of things to fix now. No biggy as things are cheap but I don't want to work on cars every weekend like the last 10 or 15 years. I'm ready to drive now. This car looks like the best horsepower and handling for the money. Plus I have a buddy that's a 25 year Ford tech that likes helping race but not driving. How lucky am I?:clap2:

Do you guys think the car will hold up to bumping the redline 5 hours a weekend? Will warranty cover it if something goes boom? No wheel to wheel for me right now and I understand warranty will go away in that case but as far as HPDEs it should be fine right?

Anyone know of a good site that mustang raod racers gather?

I have a Premium, Recaro, PP, Leather, Silver on order.

Racing voids the warranty. If you're on a course with other cars, that voids the warranty. If you're on a course by yourself, just testing the limits, that does not void the warranty.

Holding out to see what the hipo version offers, but definitely plan to take it to HPDEs. I'm no lawyer, but I would argue that if you are not in a timed competition or going for position, then you aren't racing, even if you are on a track.

Therefore, I would not consider a drag strip test-and-tune, type of environment as a race, because although you are being timed, you are not in a competition (other than bragging rights).

I have the same consideration for an HPDE. Even if you have a timer (transponder, Harry's Lap Timer, GoPro and stopwatch, etc.) you are not in a competition and therefore not racing. However, if you were doing NASA time trials, you would be racing. Anything wheel-to-wheel where you are fighting for position would be considered racing.

I tracked my 350Z from the beginning, and plan to do the same with whatever replacement I end up with.

I do not plan on doing mods until the warranty is up, unless I find something very annoying about the car.

I plan to take mine to as many track day events as i can. I took my 2011 to VIR,Barber,Road Atl,Little Tally, and few others with no issues other than a empty bank account after buying new tires and pads. lol

Vorshlag will be putting their 2015 to the limits and beyond.

Every time I hear/see the phrase 'void the warranty' I want to smack someone in the face. There's about a thousand and one different components and systems in the car all covered under warranty(except wear items). The warranty doesn't get voided, I can't say that any more plainly.

You can go to all the track days and competitons you want. If your engine blows while on track, sure you are going to pay for that. Miss a shift and blow the trans, yep that's in you. Current draw? Fluid leak? A/C goes out? Radio quits working? ECU gremlins? Water intrusion? You think all that loses their coverage simply by racing on a track?

I'm in agreement with this. Ford has made this car to track HPDE IMO.

Maybe I'll see you at Barber in December - Porsche Club has an HPDE that month.

Rule 0.5: If you can't afford to break it, don't race it.
 Obviously. Let me clarify HPDE.

If Ford can't build a Sports Car that will last the warranty then don't build it. I think they can. I have several 4.6 F-150s in our fleet with over 350K miles.

Vorshlag will be putting their 2015 to the limits and beyond.

My question was if something goes "Boom" does Ford Warranty that.
I still believe they shouldn't warranty the motor if it blows on the track if I stay under redline. If I miss a shift and turn the motor over redline it's on me. No way they can warranty that. Same with the transmission. But if the synchronizers go or motor lets loose with regular oil changes after track days I would expect them to warranty. I will say that tunes, blowers, etc... should void the warranty. They apply a stock tune to the motor conservatively to make the car last. the power the car is making is plenty to have fun at the track and run with many other more expensive cars. I don't have anything to prove - I just don't plan on pointing people by all day.

So Vorshlag and Steeda may be the place to go for handling parts should I need them. What forum focuses on track focused mustangs?

Thanks!
