Sold my car and bought a C5 Z06 to cage. Didn't want to cut up a brand new car. Parts are on ebay now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/322322991869?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
The problem with this car is the the side, the 3/4, and the rear views are awesome but the front end still is just too big and ugly. I hate that and there is no getting around it...It's like it sticks out too far and is too high at the front....The "shark gill" lights are pretty tacky as well...
It may look nicer with different wheel diameters but remember it's an HPDE setup. It's main purpose is to get the most money out of the tires. This will be achieved by rotating the tires all the way around the vehicle to conserve tire life and maximize the wear patterns.
I need an alignment...
Wow I know - so glad the color worked,

A few track weekends and I'll get to change them out. It's funny, they look sort of small and skinny but at the same time they have an...

TOYO Proxxes R888 295/35 R18

We installed these wheels and springs yesterday so the springs still need to settle some. I rolled the dice using Bronze Burst on a silver...
Any opinions on the best safe/light set of wheels for a square setup?
Tire opinions for track use only?
Vendors feel free to contact me.
What's wrong with these wheels and what are "drift" wheels...
After much thought on the weekend I realized that on the last HPDE in my GTI I did trail brake to get the car to rotate on Turn 16. Seems like I was doing this last weekend but I can't be sure. It's quite the dance on that turn while trying to brake, downshift, hit the corner just right, etc...

According to my best friend who is a 25 year Ford Service tech the brake fluid is already DOT4 so I didn't swap out. this could be bad info and someone may correct me but I had no troubles last weekend and I didn't swap out. I will swap out before the next...
So I made it to the first HPDE at Barber's Motorsports Park. It was a 2 day event with 8 sessions total for around 20 - 30 minutes. This was a local PCA event where they let everyone come out. This is only my second event so I ran Group 2 out of 5 groups. Group 2 is just a step above newbie...
Had my first track weekend at Barber's and I'm brutal on brakes. I had Hawk Dtc pads on and we did 25 to 30 miles sessions. Never had a brake fade issue. Well maybe once but that one might just be in my head. Of course the high was around 60 today so when summer comes it may be a different story.
Patience young Jedi. There's a reason I was always pissed at the old bald men driving Porsches. There are the spoiled (lucky) rich kids and those of us that had to earn it. I'm very blessed but for more than a decade I worked most Saturdays and many Sundays (60-80 hour weeks). I'm still raising...
I have a 9500ix....Don't bother with the others. I bought a cheaper model at Best Buy and promptly returned and exchanged it for the 9500. It's one of those items if you cheap out you get what you pay for. Haven't had a v1 so I can't compare. LOVE my 9500.
Ingot Silver, PP, Premium GT.
I'll post pics a little later.
I think previous car ownership and age is important to any review for perspective.
I'm 41. First car for 4 years was an 1986 VW Golf. Loved it. Graduated to a 1991 GTI, 1986 944 Turbo (loved it - maintenance sucked for my 20s)...
They are a great price if you are buying the car for amatuer track use. If its your DD or you just want to be cool you might not be happy. Depends on your cars use. Also, they might make resale difficult since you will limit your customer base simply because of the seats. People may not like...
This above... I got my car yesterday with Recaros. I am 5'10 and 150. They fit me almost snug and THEY are awesome - and I am a critic. My 250 lb friend got in and hated them. Its all about your size. For me, they are one of my favorite things abiut the car. Most vehicles are sized for larger...
