first off happy 4th. but i need help. My car when I was driving yesterday it started loosing power, the high pressure fuel pump started buzzing, and I had little to no acceleration. It would lose power almost like it was in a limp mode and then go off for about 10 minutes. However when I went outside last night about 4 hours after turning off the car, the car wouldn’t turn back on it would only crank but no start. I will attach a video. Some things I have done to fix: Replaced the high pressure fuel pump and spark plugs about a month ago, replaced both fuel sensors on fuel rail and the block and the purge valve along with the charcoal canister maybe two months ago. Essentially the only things I haven’t replaced are the fuel lines and low pressure fuel pump. I don’t know what to do, I’m tired of spending money to keep repairing it and it breaking. I also have two codes I will attach photos of. I also have started to smell a very strong scent of gas whenever I fill up the car inside the car.

Codes suggest low fuel pressure at fuel rail which means its possible the low pressure fuel pump may be bad? How many miles is the car? I know back in the day when i got my eco, the car i saw before had 30k with a bad pump. Are you sure your high pressure fuel pump replacement was done correctly? Same with the sensors, are they leaking possibly?
It could also be a bad fuel filter, it may be worth to replace that as well.

The other codes suggests big evap leak, which generally while talking about you replacing the charcoal canister and the fuel smell tells me one of 2 things. Either something broke while you installed the charcoal canister/ you didnt replace the lines correctly and theres a leak at some connection. Id suggest a smoke test for the evap, or at least a good look at your work, check for cracks, check that your lines are actually fully seated. Charcoal canister releases the excess pressure from ur gas tank while filtering the gas fumes so it wont smell

I hate to break it to you, but either you learn to diy the diag properly or you throw parts at it, or you take it to the mechanic. Dont fuss too much, i know it sucks but you gotta choose one route and be happy with it. Cars break, but if you diag you can find the issue and be sure that what you do will fix it

It has just about 140k total, but 40m with the new engine i’m not sure if the fuel system was replaced with it. the thing is i’m not just throwing random parts at it because i had a master cert mechanic help give feedback and even smoke tested all of my parts to try and figure out a solution before i replaced the HPFP.

The Evap Purge Valve and ultimately the Carbon Canister can fail to due over filling of the fuel tank i.e. going beyond the first stop. This can result in rough idling after startup. Not sure this is why the car won't run but could be one route to check.

Ah so it could be a lot of things if its a replaced motor. Try a mechanical gauge to check fuel pressure at the rail, that will tell you where to go from.

Same with the low pressure

That way, you can tell where the pressure is low from. The evap code will be something with the evap system somewhere, i would argue if you did the motor swap, its likely somewhere there

So a few things i’ve found out since last reply. I just ran a smoke test from my purge inlet on the engine to the gas tank. My vent was leaking because it unsnapped. Fixed that. But also there is a leak coming from under the passenger side fuel tank. I don’t see any direct leak but there is just a lot of smoke coming from that.

That will be your problem
Grab a camera like your phone or a snake cam and look around, find the place the smoke comes from

If its coming out, then it must be leaking

this is what i found was leaking the hose coming from the carbon canister leads to nothing but a hole in trying to find the other end which it connects to but i cannot find
Is that your vent line to atmosphere? One line from the canister will vent to atmosphere. This releases the pressure but the charcoal canister filters the gasoline gas out so you wont smell it

Im also going to say 140k miles warrants a new low pressure fuel pump, whether its your issue or not for the fuel pressure issue. Good chance it is though

Do you own a decent bidirectional scan tool? Is so, check to see if it can activate the canister vent valve. You should be able to here it click on and off. If that is your vent hose, and it seems plausible, then I think it's likely the vent valve is stuck open. Canister vent valves are a pretty common failure after the purge valve.

Update. I replaced the low pressure fuel pump with a oreilys brand. Had to replace that one with a motorcraft brand pump because it was a bad pump. Also replaced the purge valve because it had warranty. I have fixed the leak engine code, the vent valve was not clipped in all the way. When the car is running it runs perfect. However the car doesn’t like starting up. As in the video it cranks but doesn’t start up for about 15 seconds of cranking. I have checked to see if the high pressure pump is holding pressure in the lines and it’s holding. So I’m not sure where to go from here.

Good to hear that the main issues are fixed
I wouldnt buy parts from stores like that, do your research and buy a quality part as usually only a couple brands are worth it and dont cause troubles.

Check if you press accesory mode, off, accessory mode, off etc a couple times if it fixes the starting problem, if it does it has to relate to fuel pressure bleeding off between starts. When you go to accesory mode the fuel pump primes

Any check engine lights or codes currently after the other issues cleared up?

Try to start it with map/maf i forget which, sensor unplugged to see if it runs better without the maf
