I have returned my GT to completely stock in order to sell it and move on to my next fun car(Gt350 or Mach1). However after returning to the stock tune and driving a few hundred miles to set the Monitors I got a P0456 code for a very smalle vap leak. I cleaned the gas tank caps to as I had read that was a common cause, then drove again but the code returned. I went and grabbed a new Evap Purge Solenoid that bolts to the intake manifold to see if that would work. While I was installing it I had read that people said it was a good opportunity to smoke test the system, which I did. I found a small amount of smoke coming from the rear charcoal cannister vent line. Which more research has shown might be the Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid which might be my actual issue. Has anyone replaced this? I am going to go to Ford today to get one. Any other Evap advice?

Haven't replaced on on these cars but I have read that it's a royal pita. If memory serves the tank has to come down which I think means the exhaust and drive shaft do too and maybe more. I'd do a Google search on the process to be sure.

i had a small evap leak code. i ended up just ordering a new charcoal canister. it came with the vapor vent solenoid and it was only around 150 on rock auto. not hard to change just a couple of quick disconnects and four bolts holding it on. i watched a youtube video and was able to change it in only about 30 minutes. In my case it was actually the charcoal canister it had a very large crack in it. my car is a 2017 gt.

Ok. I tried to find some videos on dropping that Charcoal Canister under the trunk but I couldnt. Hopfully swapping out just the Canister valve isnt too hard. Good to know its just 4 bolts that hold the whole thing on. Then I can take it off and work on it on my work bench instead of under the car.

Just to follow up for everyone. I changed the Evap Purge Solenoid, and the entire rear charcoal canister assembly... Still didnt fix the problem, code came right back. I gave in and brought it to Ford. They diagnosed a series of cracked evap lines that are above the fuel tank. The molded line assembly was over $1500 itself and then they need to drop the fuel tank and reassemble. So final total will be over $3000 to fix my evap codes. Unbelieveable...

That is pretty crazy.
Did they show you the cracked lines or show you pictures of them or anything?
Seems random that the actual lines would crack unless you were yanking on them for some reason.

If the lines really are cracked, idk that I could stomach 3k to fix that code.
I would prob be doing some investigating into repairing them somehow myself.
