I have a few product ideas for the 2015. Anyone know how I could go about getting some of the CAD dwg's?

Are you looking to put your paper napkins into CAD format? 2D or 3D? I would be willing to donate some time

Right now I'm looking specifically for the CAD drawings of the dash.

I doubt any company releases detailed technical documentation that flat out can be used for manufacturing their parts by somebody else. I think you're expectation to get CAD drawings is completely unreasonable - having said that I work in a different industry when cost / price of a single part exceeds Mustang price couple of times.

If you were a SEMA member (work for a company that is), they have a program for data exchange to allow aftermarket companies access to specifically that sort of information. And if you were a supplier to Ford for that vehicle, you could reasonable expect that they'd share that data. But if you're just some guy off the street with an idea for a part, you're best bet is to measure the actual part and reverse engineer it. There is no likelihood that Ford or any of their suppliers will share their design data with you.

That's what I was thinking. It was worth a shot to ask though.
Thanks for the replies everybody.

Depending on how motivated you are and the size of your R&D budget, I would look into renting / accessing a coordinate-measuring machine like a Faro arm.

http://www.faro.com/products/metrology/faroarm-measuring-arm/overview

Something like that would work great for measuring any exterior surfaces of the dash panel components or any other parts of the car for that matter. Short of being supplied with CAD drawings from Ford or their suppliers, this is about the most accurate way to get to a set of measurements to work from. Good luck with your project!

You know it's expensive when the pricing isn't listed on the manufacture's site lol. Faro arms are incredible pieces of technology though!

There are small 3D laser scanning (LIDAR-type) hand-held units for sale. The scan is transferred to a laptop for CAD-CAM manipulation. They can be used to scan a portion of the dash.

Pretty small engineering firm so that's way out of the budget, but thanks.

Just give it a little time. You can get almost completed models of previous year Mustangs.

I'll find the link and post.

Use a kinect sensor from an Xbox and a program called skanect. The program is $120 and the sensor is $200. It is not going to be as accurate as a fero arm but it gets the job done! I have used it multiple times for projects from exhaust to scanning an entire engine bay.

I'm not sure but, if Chaz is willing to part with what he has, that might be your only option.

He may not want to let any of that go... I could certainly understand if he didn't...
