Hi all,

has anyone ever put a sniffer on the real CAN bus (not the OBD port as sniffing the real CAN ids is not possible there)?
What i'm interested in is if the volume up/down IDs are on the CAN bus if the ACM is put into variable line level mode.
What we know is, if you got a Ford with a B&O or SONY system you have fixed line level output from the ACM and volume is controled via CAN bus messages in the amplifier.

Reason is the following:

If the volume up/down CAN bus ids are available while the ACM is in variable line level mode as with the Shaker system and you're using a recent Mosconi DSP or Mosconi DSP-Amplifier (D2-line, 6to8, Pico DSP amplifier, Atomo DSP) you could use their CAN bus module RC-CAN to control the volume of the optical input of the DSP while streaming from an iPhone via a Topping D10 or Mosconi AMAS96k f.e. You could also control volume muting for hands free or backup sensors while streaming from digital audio players via optical input.
This would keep the system completely factory (except for amps/speakers) while having the "best" possible digital signal into the DSP and avoiding unecessary DA and AD conversions.

IDatalink may have your answer. It’s just the IDs that you are looking for. You don’t need anything proprietary from them.
