So what temp does it go into limp? I just got the Nguage to measure and drove around yesterday in 100 degree weather and after some serious hot laps in an undisclosed area only got to 258 and no limp. It does heat soak and won't cool much until you park it, even then it takes forever to cool down. These really should have had coolers from the get go. Hell, my Jeep and F150 have coolers.

I'm guessing they wanted to keep the base car under 50k to increase interest. I was interested because of that. I ordered a 60k one though. But at 60k I'd cancel my order if my m2 spot came up.

Based on limited info available you had about 20F more to go. I have yet to see any updated info on the transmission strategy. Based off of Temp gauge ranges and data on the Auto Trans Temp ranges You will likely go into de-rate at around 280-295. 280F is usually the point of oil temps entering Fords "Hot" range.

The rear axle will set a P188A code at 293F. An educated guess would place the threshold for the trans. temp in that same area.

Noted. Thanks for making me feel worse. I just want the ability to have the option for the coolers for mine, which I have been enjoying since November of last year! Have yet to track it because I don't want to hate my car.

I've been lurking this forum for some time now. I had a deposit on a 16 Tech pack and from what I read and learned here on 6g I cancelled the purchase. Thanks to all the knowledgeable and passionate members here I think I was saved from a lot of aggravation and certainly a few bucks.

I would have waited too, if I had only known. I was 1st on a wait list and one of the first to get one in Houston. Just happened to be the color combo I wanted so I took the leap. Don't get me wrong, I love the car and really have enjoyed it, however now I have my track wheels, thx N4SM, and am ready for some track time. I'm fine with paying for the official Ford fix. Let's see it already.

Or maybe you just missed the opportunity of a lifetime, because the great majority of Tech Package owners are reporting no problems.

Wasn't trying to make you feel bad.. having a 16 and a 17 seeing what the 17 is running tempature wise I can't believe I overheated the tranny on the 16 just running down the highway.

As long as you "drive Mrs Daisy" you can live in total bliss. Things have been great for me too, but after seeing the trans temps I was running yesterday I know I'll be limping in no time putting around a track never mind banging the gears. I know, broken record, but I've been quietly waiting for the cooler option and will gladly pay for it. However, when I start limping around town that will be a different story.

Encouraged by the news that coolers keep the temp down in 100 degree weather. Was that putting around town or driving with some gusto?

Uh, I've definitely not driven "Mrs Daisy" in higher heat and humidity (88-92) and haven't had any issues. I know some have in 100 plus degree heat during normal driving, but I still think there is something else going on there.

I'll agree if you you plan on tracking a tech car in any meaningful way you will run into issues. But, most should be just fine with a tech pack car if they don't plan on tracking.

Not really. Just opened the door to an opportunity to own a 17. :D

At this point it doesn't really matter. Assuming the cooler setup is released soon all the 16 techs with added coolers will be the same as a 17.

Getting a 16 at sticker or at a lower finance amount actually makes sense when the other option is MSRP or an ADM on the 17.
