Hey everyone, so I'm wondering why the 2014 is still selling good. A lot of customers here around the Los Angeles area are buying them.

Is it because those Customers are not aware of the new 2015 or are they?
Did the same thing happen when the 2005 was introduced, did the 2004 sell well?

Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks!

I assume this is anecdotal.... Not from actual dealer sales numbers?

There are some pretty significant discounts

There are a lot of people who think the 2015 is ugly.

Dealers are practically giving away 2014s. I've seen them up to 10k below msrp

I'm thinking about buying a 14 because I love it and the discounts.

We're selling plenty of '14's at the dealership I work for. Very good discounts/rebates. Not everyone likes the '15 sytling (yet). Not everyone can/will wait until October/Novermber for a car. The '14 already has great power and handling. et cetera.

we sold 15 units last month, and it is a great value, we order a lot of track packs and also base and premium models...great bang for the buck, especially with " Flex Buy "

My local dealership of choice is having no issue moving the '14s right now. I just got my fiancee one a few weeks ago; and the same day they had sold two other V6s, a fully loaded GT and a Shelby.

A lot of people really like the way the '13/'14s are styled, and the rebates/discounts/incentives are great. I think the sticker on our '14 V6 was somewhere around 24k, and after rebates, loyalty discount, positive trade-in equity and negotiating we paid somewhere around 16k (out the door, including title and taxes) for it.

Plus my better half dislikes how the 6th generation looks in comparison, so it was an easy decision for her. Still won't stop me from buying a 6th generation after I pay off the current toy next year. It's a matter of preference and the new Mustang is not everyone's favorite design yet.

I think it's a great thing that the '14s are still selling. It will be easier on Ford to clear them out before the rush to buy the '15; and will keep Mustang sales numbers up and looking good.

It's just a combination of everything really lol. Not everyone likes the '15 mustang styling, the '14 has some great deals right now, not everyone can wait and just have to have it now, some people get put into a position where they have to buy it now(i.e. car gets totaled, current lease is up, etc.), some people don't know about it, etc. We can't really pin it down to any one thing without surveying everyone who buys one.

In 2004, I bought two 2004 GTs knowing that the 2005s were coming out. My wife liked the 2005 model, but til this day have never been sold on them. I was a SN95 and new edge fan. I had those 2 GTs and an 03 cobra plus a 2008 Premium GT for the wife. I did however like the refresh in 2010, bought a 2011 GT, but then sold it, and bought another cobra. I dunno, but being in the Mustang craze then I know that the 04s were discounted dramatically too. I bought a cloth GT with a sticker of 24k for 17k out the door with no money down and no trade. Two months later I bought another one with leather and an automatic with a sticker of 26k with no trade or money down for 17900 out the door. Both spankin new. Both my cobras were used when I bought them, and the 11 GT was 36k and I paid just under 29k for it. It helped that it was surrounded by new 12s at the beginning of 2011. Just throwing that out there. So yes I believe this is the same effect as before the 05 refresh. Hope this helps!

Supposeldy there is enough demand that Ford will build '14's through july.
June 20th will be the last day of 2014 Mustang production per Ford as of 5 days ago.
