20" wheels too large for the s550?

I think so. It just looks like the wheel overpowers the car. Too much wheel. Anyone else agree? I know 20's are popular. 19's are perfect, IMO.

Not at all. They look great and help fill the gigantic wheel gap.

If you're not lowering, yes. But they still look big to me.

I love the way my 20's look. Some wheels look better than others, and everyone has their own tastes, but as far as I'm concerned, you can have my 20's when you pry them from etc.

    I think not...
My 20” Foundry wheels look awesome!!
The S550’s design projects a powerful presence on the road and IMHO, these particular wheels not only complement, but strengthen the overall visual impact of the car.

Just like exhaust volume and tone, the choice of wheel selection, be it size or design is a very personal decision...that’s why there are so many choices out there.

    More wheel, less gap.

I personally like the thicker tire look. So 17's or 18's with tire.

It's not just wheel size, it's tire size too. Unless you're lowering by a significant amount, 20s with decent tires fills the well gap quite nicely IMO. But it's also about what type of wheel. If you get something gaudy, something that doesn't fit the lines of the car, or draws too much attention from the car, yeah, 20s will be worse because you got 20 inches of gauche. To fill the wells properly on smaller wheels, you need more tire which can also be a touch bouncy for DD/street use. I'd limit it at 20 though. Anything larger is gaudy. Though the smaller wheels with thick tires (and maybe some tire lettering too :-) has more of an old-school muscle look like the second picture.

The s 550 can take 20s and look great imo. While i prefer 19s, 20s still look good. They dont look "too big" for the car at all

Lol - if you match OEM diameter of 27ish inches, gap is exactly the same regardless of you wheel size...
I don't know why it's so difficult to understand...
