Hey guys-

2023 base mach 1 w 1100 miles on her. I am looking to add a few suspension parts and not screw around w fords engineering perfection. I want to add a FRONT 2 point lower brace? Which brace via Steeda or BMR is better? Pros and cons??

Thanks Anthony

We have had three (3) Mach 1s in our stable since the introduction - I can't speak to the other companies, but we have done plenty of testing & engineering on these vehicles ... don't think you'll find a another company with as much Mach 1 love as Steeda :)

Weight + price - you decide!

If you drive the car it’s going to get all mangled/coating roughed up anyways. I personally wouldn’t care for coating/material longevity.

Thanks for reply. The only deal breaker for me w steeda is there horrible powdercoating.. I had the 5 pt G lower brace on my Roush car and in 2 years it was rusted.. I ripped it off and slapped BMR front brace and never had coating issue again
The rear Irs braces same issue w paper thin powdercoating. I left the rears on when I sold car. I really liked steedas design iver BMR w rear irs brace. But hopefully, there powdercoating has been stepped up.
Tjsteeda wjere do they get powdercoated???
Thanks Anthony

I got the Steeda 4 point G-trak up front and the rear subframe out back. I don't live in an area where weather is an issue, but I did know the car would see track abuse. That meant it would see plenty of pavement scraps up front and flying sand/rock and loose stuff out back. So I painted them with as many coats as one can of Ford blue would give me. Then clear coated them with two cans of two part urethane. I did this 5 years ago, no rust and very little chipping.

I’ve got parts from both, they both have some inconsistencies in coating adhesion. Looking forward to hearing Steeda’s response! Their springs are damn near mint, but the camber plates don’t look nearly as good.

BMR isn’t perfect either! I have their sway bars which look a little rough near the end links.

I try not to worry about it much though because my car is very much a driver LOL.

Just spray some bedliner on it. Is going to be under car anyways. Good to know in the coating as I’m going to order the IRS braces

If headers are in your future best to option for the design that extends lower to allow for them. Steeda make some.

I was happy with Steeda's two point until I switched to Steeda's Road Race K-Member now I know what happiness is. Cannot speak on BMR but chose Steeda over BMR for the K-Member on design alone.

True although I didn't need to use any spacers with either my Steeda 2 point or Steeda RR K-mem in conjunction with Kooks 1 7/8" LTH's.

Hello,

I have escalated this to our Director of Manufacturing & Steeda. He has provided me with the following feedback:

"I wanted to give the forum members some insight.

First and foremost, we at Steeda take quality control very seriously. We understand the importance of maintaining high-quality parts for the aftermarket.

We continuously improve our processes, ensuring they meet and exceed industry standards.

We manufacture to the highest standards, from being ISO9001-2008 Certified to investing in the latest machining processes, equipment, and materials.

Regarding powder coating, Steeda has a 9 out of 10 rating after 750 hours of direct salt spray testing, higher than the industry standard of 6 out of 10. I can assure you that we produce a very high quality product compared to industry standards.

Once a part leaves our facility, we have no control over the atmospheric or road conditions it will be subject to. With a 9 out of 10 rating, we know these parts are very durable when they leave the facility. Here in Florida and Georgia, we run all of these parts on our test cars, and they continue to hold up after 5-7 years. 1000s of these parts are on the road & as some have referenced - their products don't have any issues.

While driving, racing, and everything in between, there is so much that can happen under the vehicle that we can't control, including rock chips, hitting debris, scraping, etc.

These parts must be monitored/inspected for the above issues from an inspection and maintenance perspective. If you leave a chip/crack/gouge untreated—and you live in an area with a lot of road chemicals or near the ocean—then the parts can precipitate rust, which has nothing to do with the Powder Coating or part.

We appreciate and value your support and concerns. I can assure you that we are doing everything to the highest degree here at Steeda to eliminate quality issues and problems. "

I will work to identify our powdercoating supplier.

Best,

TJ

I shouldn't have to spray anything on them to stay protected though. sad stuff. I love steeda, but by now they should have that powdercoating fixed. I never had any issues w BMR and powdercoating.
