Thought I'd check in with my fellow Mustang6G friends at the 2,610 mark on the odometer and let you know how we're doing.

In a word: Fantastic. I've only had one problem - the passenger seat. The magnetic button used by the leather seat belt retainer fell off from the seat back due to it either not being installed correctly at the factory or someone accidentally pulling it too hard when trying to get into the back seat. It's a dumb design, in my opinion. I did the repair myself. See photo below.

I've had one other issue with the car, although I don't classify it as a problem. Sometimes the brakes squeal horribly when I first drive the car. It's not just a little squeal. It's a squeal worthy of a school bus, or a garbage truck, or a UPS delivery truck. I've never owned a car before that had brakes squeal so loud. I've learned how to prevent it. At the first stop or two, I ever-so-lightly apply the brake sooner than I normally would just to heat them up before applying them normally. That usually prevents the squeal. I'm sure it doesn't help brake wear but the application is so light that I would think it won't have much effect (fingers crossed).

Other than the passenger seat and brake squeal issues, I've had no other complaints with the car. No squeaks, rattles, wind whistles, no anything. It's as tight as a drum and really quiet on the road. The base suspension is really comfortable yet has all the handling performance I need on the street. Nice combination.

The engine and manual transmission have broken in very nicely. Both were noticeably tight when I took delivery. The shifter is silky smooth, light, and precise (but a little notchy when cold). The clutch actuation is very predictable and I've yet to stall the engine. Clutch pressure is not too heavy and is not bad at all in stop-and-go traffic -- a pleasant surprise! The gearbox is quiet, too. I can't say enough good things about the engine. Overall, it sounds and feels very similar to my 2013 GT/CS (which is amazing considering all the updates made to it for 2015). I do notice that the engine likes to rev more freely and pulls harder than my 2011 GT and 2013 GT/CS as it reaches for the red line. It's a great feeling (and sound!!) when going thru the gears and feeling the engine pull harder and harder as the revs climb. Very satisfying, indeed.

Fuel efficiency is satisfactory and about what I expected. It gets 18-19 MPG in mixed driving and 25~26 MPG on highway trips.

Lastly, I'll mention the attention factor I get wherever I go. I've owned a lot of Mustangs over the years (this one is number 16) as well as other cars and none of them have come close to receiving the attention my 2015 Mustang does. On the road, folks honk and give me the thumbs up, roll down their windows to wave approvingly, kids in school buses all look out their windows, people come up to me at the gas station or parking lots to chat about my car and tell me how much they like it. People young and old all love the car. I've had no speeding tickets but I have had cops discreetly wave at me before. The most memorable experience I've had thus far is on a trip 2-3 weeks ago to East Texas. The speed limit was 75 MPH and folks were exceeding that. This elderly couple in a big Toyota SUV had to have been doing 90 MPH to catch up to me so they could catch up and look at my car, wave like crazy and give me an approving thumbs up. I don't buy a car for the approval of others but I will admit that it's pretty cool to get so much favorable attention from people. It just adds to the fun factor of owning and driving the car.

The photos below were taken yesterday, Feb 7. It was sunny, 70-something degrees in Dallas. February weather just doesn't get better than that! The paint on my car is so glossy and deep that it looks like you could just swim in it. Really amazing paint job!

I've attached a photo I snapped at the end of a Dallas to Austin round trip. The speed limit is 75 MPH most of the way and traffic usually exceeds that limit. And, if you know Austin traffic, then you won't be surprised when I say the trip includes some stop-n-go as well. I'm very pleased with the fuel economy.

This is a photo of the seat repair I mentioned in my original post. The seat belt retainer strap attaches to the seat back via a magnet attached to the side of the seat back. There are two slots cut in the leather for the two magnet tabs to attach to. In my case, one of the tabs appear to not be folded outward to retain the magnet on the seat back. Or, it's possible that someone pulled the seat belt retainer and the magnet tab was too weak to retain the magnet. I think it's a dumb design on an otherwise really nice seat. The repair was a bit difficult because you can't get your fingers behind the tab to bend it back over. I was able to take a very small blade screw driver and insert it in the slot in the leather, along with the tab, and use the screwdriver as a back stop to fold the tab over. It is now securely attach to the seat back.

I'm right at 3000 miles and my only real complaint is the notchy shifting when cold. And yes, I've stalled mine a few times. Last time was just yesterday when an old lady in her big ass Mercedes pulled out in front of me without even looking in my direction. I was so focused on the brake pedal and horn, I forgot about the clutch pedal.
And then the old bitch had the gall to look at me like it was my fault. Even the Pope would get a beat down if he pulled out in front of me!

Sitting at 4300 miles. There is a metallic rattling on cold starts. Seems as if it's coming from under the center of the car. It goes away once the idle cycle is complete/ I drive away/warmed up. This is usually in high 20s low 30s weather. Hoping it's just a heat shield rattle of some sort. Will try to get a video of it.

Other than that, zero complaints. Everything is working as it should.

Great write up, thanks for sharing...I just passed 1000 miles but am not getting anywhere near your gas mileage. In mixed driving I am hovering around 15 MPG.

I'm glad you were able to avoid an accident!

I know what you mean regarding notching shifting. Based on my experience over the past 40 years, it's not unusual for manuals to have notchy shifting depending on how cold it is. Yes, mine has some "notchiness" in very cold weather, but I didn't count that as an issue because I expected it.

Good to hear from you. I agree with you ...I would also guess it's a heat shield. S/b something easy to fix. And, like you said, it doesn't last for long.

Thanks for the comment, Steve! I have the standard final drive ratio (3.31:1). I'm guessing you have the 3.73:1 ratio with the GT PP. If so, that might explain part of the difference. In city driving, I typically shift around 2,200/2,500 RPM. That seems to help a lot with the mileage. Of course, when I'm driving for fun, I'll let it rev higher when shifting.

This is a major problem for some of us, and a thread here dedicated to it. The good news is, Ford is aware and a fix/TSB is in progress. :)

On a not-quite-related note...I usually watch the mpg and not the odometer so much...but 2 weeks ago I happened to notice a milestone of sorts and pulled off the road to get this shot :p
