You could also put a T fitting instead of a 90 degree elbow. The T fitting could be used as a fill port and then capped off.

This may be a dumb question, but if you use the fill and drain plugs for the hose connections, how do you refill the transmission?

Thanks in Advance.
Remove the fitting on the fill hole, and fill the same way you normally would. It's just as easy, if not easier to remove as the fill plug would be.

I asked the same question in the past, but got no answer. How do you check the fluid level?
I explained a page or two back how I filled it to the proper level.

Sorry if I missed your question somewhere else, but this was your only post in this thread.

No room for a T fitting on the top. let the pump fill it.To fill I removed the suction side hose, capped the fitting on the trans drain side, Dropped the suction end in a bucket with 4 quarts of fluid. Armed the pump and had four quarts in the lines, pump, trans. in about a minute. I then quickly reconnected the suction line, disconnected the return from the fill side and about half a guart of overfill ran out leaving the fluid at correct level with no quessing.

Just can't get enuff!
I was at PBIR with Screamer yesterday afternoon for the SCCA Track Night in America and he ran all sessions without hitting limp mode at all. Although the 1st session was kinda damp due to the afternoon showers we were running brisk laps in the advanced grp during our dry sessions... at I say low-mid 1:30's and also depending on some track traffic. All in all I think he's proven over & over that the cooling retrofitted on a Tech pack works.

If I get all the parts in, I'll be tackling this project this weekend following SVTDSM's build. Thanks SVTDSM! I'm scrambling a bit to take advantage of an opportunity at Watkins Glen, so I'm jumping in rather than waiting for a Ford fix.

I hope to tackle the DIY solution as SVTDSM outlined in a few weeks.

Where can I get the hose and fittings? Sorry for the dumb questions.

Hose and fittings are available everywhere: Jegs, Summit Racing, Pegasus Racing, Racer Parts Wholesale, Speedway, Amazon, etc., etc. You may even find a good source locally to walk in and put your hands on the stuff.

SVTDSM opted for 8 AN hose and hose fittings need to specifically match the size of the hose. If you follow his build and specific equipment he chose, you'll need 1/2" NPT to 8 AN fittings, 3/4" NPT to 8 AN, and 3/8" NPT to 8 AN. Stick with aluminum, which is the most prevalent material for these hose fittings. You'll need assembly tools for the hose fittings, and I strongly suggest calling up a supplier to ask questions about connection types and tools required if this is new to you. There's zero shame in that: get the knowledge and do it right!

Thank you for the help.

I am a decent shade tree mechanic, but never made hoses and fittings. Never needed the AN fitting before. And when I did need hose back in my costruction days, we went to a hydraulic house and had them made.

Well, I'm kind of a terrible mechanic, but since I want to play with cars on track, I've been forced to get a clue and some level of skill.

Stainless steel or nylon braided hose suitable for oil, coolant, gas etc. is readily available in a variety of lengths. I opted to get a 20' section of 8 AN stainless since SVTDSM stated he needed about 15' in total (though I think he went with nylon braided). I opted to go with stainless since some of the hose line will be exposed to the possibility of contact or abrasion where it connects to the transmission. It's also available local to me if I need to grab some more length.

In any case, try to have some fun with it!

That s not a problem, within 4 weeks I was at Summit Point in WV. I only got to do parade laps ( at speed) and already love it... Then we went over to Carlisle for the All Ford show...

Plan to track as soon as I get the cooler installed.
