'17 Shelby GT350 Engine Code

Looking to buy a 2017 Shelby GT350. Have some concern over the engine code in one car that I'm particularly interested in. To my knowledge the 2017 model years are supposed to have an "HA" engine code, not "FA". Only thing on "FA" engine codes I've found is that they're for the '15 model year. Anyone have any insight?

Thanks. I read through that thread this morning and there was only one mention of the FA codes so was hoping someone might have some more in depth knowledge.

If it helps here is the decal on my 2017 that was built in late October 2016. It's the original engine

Ok thanks, that makes me feel better. My concern was that if the engine was built in 2016 it wouldn't have the improvements that came in the 2017 model year over the 2016 (track package engine coolers I believe)

Which oil filter do you have- the spin on canister one or the replaceable element one in the plastic housing?

I can double check but I believe mine is also a 2016 engine. 32k miles in and still going strong. The engine won't have any influence on whether it has the coolers or not. It may actually be a good thing that you got a 2016 motor as it seems failures started happening when Ford started fiddling.

Personally, I would be less concerned about the engine code decal and more interested as to whether this GT350 or any other GT350/R that you are looking at has a matching numbers engine and/or transmission?

In addition I would request an Oasis Report for any GT350 that you may be interested in as the OR will confirm the start dates for the 3-year Bumper to Bumper warranties as well as the 5-year Power Train warranty.

Of course any warranty work that may have been done on any said GT350 will also show up on the OR.
