I don’t think it matters. The Mustang is a rolling brick limited by its large frontal footprint. Even back in the fox body days extra power would not help much. I only accept video footage as proof so 164 for the GT and 157 for the V6. Top speeds are closer together between models due to the dynamics of power and air resistance. Talk is just talk in the end.

GT is governed at 164
Ecoboost is governed at 149

Tune it and no governor

Agreed and you will probably get a few more out of the GT. The EcoBoost stock seems to struggle more to get past 150 even with the limiter off. You need two runs in opposing directions for it to be definitive.

BTW. At those speeds what does it matter.

BTW. I did try a top speed run on a fox body 5.0 in the day and at over 130mph (the gauges only went to 180 kilometres per hour) some asshole tried to force us into the ditch. I avoided that in time but that was the end of my top speed days.

I've done 160 in mine both stock and modded, which is pretty close to the 164 limiter. My tune limiter is removed however so it could keep going to the hardcoded limiter (186 mph). I won't post it here but you can PM me if you like for the dashcam video.

No doubt in my mind that the car could go well over 164 with the mods I have done. Even in Mexico though it's just too fast for a public road for me.
