I'm not so sure. A wide powerband like the 6.2 doesn't need an 8 speed for acceleration. Its only there for gas mileage.Oh I'm sure it'll be faster in a straight line simply because of the A8. As for the turns, i'm still doubting its as fast without MRC.

It's 2.77 ratio on their 8 speed auto...that's definitely there for fuel economny...curious on how that will affect acceleration. Don't think you can get any other gears in the auto due to AFM, etc.I'm not so sure. A wide powerband like the 6.2 doesn't need an 8 speed for acceleration. Its only there for gas mileage.
I believe that after seeing what comes on the '16 1SS/2SS that Ford will make some changes for '17...definitely think dual mode exhaust is coming as an option and that driving modes will be standard on base GT. Also think we'll see the 10 speed more then likely now.Driving modes standard... Ford are you listening? I like the option for dual mode exhaust.
It's way more then that.Performance aside, basically the 1SS offers dual 8 inch screens and 20 inch rims over the base GT. Is that worth 4K?
The active dual mode exhaust is a very sweet setup. It's quiet when you need it to be, and loud when you don't. You have the best of both worlds. Plus aftermarket, the noise is always there and many are known with serious drone. Yes there lighter, but IMHO the factory NPP sounds great right from the factory, and for $900 it's priced right also.:cheers:another point that just may be me, but why add weight with a dual mode exhaust when most people just swap them out anyways. I can probably count on one hand how many people I know with stock exhausts on their V8 pony/muscle cars.
I think the coolers are more of a necessity to help with the cooling issues we've seen with the LT1 and A8 on the stringray. I know chevy is touting it as being more track capable from the factory, but im not taking their word on it until I see third party info on it.It's way more then that.
1) dual 8" screens
2) differential cooler
3) tranny cooler
4) extra compacity engine cooler
5) exterior oil cooler
6) 4 piston Brembo on all 4 corners
7) 3:73 gears
8) 20" wheels with staggered performance tires
9) auto climate control
10) 20 more HP and 55lbs torque
11) rev match
Plus you have the options of active exhaust, sunroof, mag ride, and a 8 speed auto.
Its easily over 3K for sure.I think the coolers are more of a necessity to help with the cooling issues we've seen with the LT1 and A8 on the stringray. I know chevy is touting it as being more track capable from the factory, but im not taking their word on it until I see third party info on it.
Rev match is nice, the 3:37 gears are nice but shitty for gas mileage, and auto climate control is nice. I wouldnt count the HP and TQ, thats kind of reaching. Still all of those items you just listed do not equate 4K.
Agreed. You get the best of many worlds with the active exhaust. The active dual mode exhaust is a very sweet setup. It's quiet when you need it to be, and loud when you don't. Wow you are a Camaro fanboi! :doh:Agreed. You get the best of many worlds with the active exhaust.
Wow you are a Camaro fanboi!
If pointing out a cool feature that the Camaro has that the S550 doesnt makes me a fanboi then so be it.Wow you are a Camaro fanboi!
Problem is its not an apples to apples comparison. Their base/premium car is loaded with many more options vs what we have as options in the Mustang..hence the price difference.I think they've done a great job with the new Camaro. They've dropped a bunch of weight, they've shrank its size. The the styling of it, while it's not perfect (I think the headlights are too small on the front end) is probably the best they've done since 69.
But the price is too high. If they matched the V6 prices with that of the Mustang I'd have had a difficult choice (had I not already bought my car)... But it's not a difficult choice when it's so much more expensive and the novelty of styling wears off pretty quickly.
The real question is whether or not it'll offer an extra $3K+ worth of smiles and ownership satisfaction. Its easily over 3K for sure.
I hope they bring MRC and the active exhaust to the '17s with the 10 speed. The real question is whether or not it'll offer an extra $3K+ worth of smiles and ownership satisfaction.
If I didn't have a GT sitting in my garage, I'd only be 60:40 partial toward the GT versus the SS. I think the SS is an attractive offer and it doesn't do anything wrong (on paper so far), but it's no more enticing of a package for realistic use. It would be my immediate second choice. I'd want the rev-matching and MRC, but that's it. Even then, there's so much money to have fun with the aftermarket.![]()
