Curious to see invoice prices.

Everyone knows domestic MSRP numbers are negotiating touchy feely hogwash to convince people they stuck it to the dealer by getting $1k under.

I must be alone in thinking that advertising a base GT for $33kish is crazy.
I only go for invoice pricing or below. I don't care what manufacturer it is, even Toyota. It can be done. Bought my wifes last highlander limited for invoice. Very few cars would I be willing to pay MRSP on. Cars like the gt350 etc.

EB PP track rat...
Well factor in the suspension/brembo brakes/tires/cooling and you're spending at least $2500 on the PP on the Mustang base and that's only 19's. Prob another $250 to move up to 20s in build cost (if it was offered). Also getting the better screen that a premium would have in the Mustang in the base of the Camaro so that's prob another $200 or so at least. Trim also.

You also aren't getting drive modes or the HP/TQ.

At that point, they are near 1K apart...so the person has to decide what they want. Obvioulsy a non-PP person would/should go Mustang. But if you want all that stuff, all of a sudden the two cars are close and you are getting more in the Camaro with the HP/TQ/Screen/Higher trim.
Why would you want the heavier wheels/tires on the 4 banger (20")? I'm even swapping my stockers back to 18's...

Drive modes are built into the traction control button, even on the base models. Got regular, sport and all off.

And again, I've had that little 4 banger from GM in a much, much lighter car, and it still wasn't fast. It was rough running as well.

I have no bias towards one or the other. who else feels this way?
I lean Mustang, but within debate, I try to stay objective.

That said, my wallet runs away from GM products since I worked in auto parts while in college and experienced a lot of customer's shit cars and problems. I wish them the best and hold out hope, but as a whole, I don't think they've produced a reasonable car (as a total pkg of power, quality, refinement, efficiency, and reliability) since the mid 80s.

Exactly. Thus the outrage and excitement over the Camaro's MSRP is little more than mental masturbation.

100% this. Gm is horrible. While I like vettes. Long term quality with gm is trash. Very few manufacturers get my money. Only about 5 will ever see my money. Only way dodge would ever get my money is for a viper.

I think the oversized lower intake on the front of the Camaro is its worst-looking thing. However, it is not NEAR as ugly as the Corolla or Camry. The front of the Camry is outrageously ugly. The Camaro doesn't come close to that. I do think the Mustang is the better looking vehicle.

Mustang needs to add support for magnetic ride control and really should do something to compete with the HUD as well. I could see some going with the Camaro for the suspension option. The Camaro fanboys are going to buy the Camaro and the Mustang fanboys are going to buy the Mustang. The competition is for those who aren't brand loyal. Hopefully the competition makes both cars better and makes them both a better value.
I'd suggesting having or not having a HUD is not the factor the majority of car buyers base their decision on. On a list of top twenty "must-have" things, I'd hazard to guess it is at or near the bottom.

Agreed. My $$$ is in Ford stock and Ford vehicles.

Hopefully though we get lots of nice mid cycle stuff on the '17s since GM threw down a lot in their new '16.

Honestly, I think they are both bargains at their price points for what they offer. I mean, who can argue with 435 hp for 34k? The Camaro is a good deal, too, but you gotta be willing to drop that extra four grand. I suspect that will be a hard pill to swallow for more people than GM thinks.

One big advantage for the Mustang if we're bringing up the performance package is the size of its brakes. They are six piston, not four. And they are fifteen inches in diameter, which is *huge* (has Chevy announced the size of brakes on the 1LE yet? I bet they'll be smaller despite the extra power and comparable weight). So it's not at all fair to compare the GT PP brakes to the base SS brakes. Brake upgrades are very expensive and risky, too, and they are of critical importance if you track your car, so again, that is a significant difference.

The package includes other upgrades, too -- shorter gearing, a strut brace, K-brace, stiffer sway bars... And don't forget the badass track apps with line lock.

And personally, I prefer the 19-inchers over 20-inchers. I know the latter is more expensive, but they're just for show. I want the smallest wheels possible that will clear the brake calipers. Less unsprung weight, less rotational inertia, better ride quality, less damage prone, cheaper tires...

Also, I think Sync 3 is probably a decent bit better than Chevy's infotainment from what I've seen, but I don't have extensive experience with either, so I can't say for sure.

With all that said, I don't think either car is a significantly better or worse value than the other, but the different price points will most likely push some customers one way or another. As for people who can afford both, they still have plenty of reasons to pick one or another, too.

Performance aside, basically the 1SS offers dual 8 inch screens and 20 inch rims over the base GT. Is that worth 4K?
That though is where the $$$ is .... performance. For many it's worth it. For many it's not.

They should have just offered a PP like Ford did.

Oh I'm sure it'll be faster in a straight line simply because of the A8. As for the turns, i'm still doubting its as fast without MRC.
