maybe someone who is an engineer/machinist can comment, but does that drilled out section go all the way thru? it looks like the dark hole on the top can be seen in the drill hole from underneath, like during machining the drill went too far? does that look to be the case? Perhaps the crack is a manufacturing issue and not a fatigue issue and has nothing to do with a high power/high revving engine?

Issue is a bad casting.

That hole drilled is more than likely just as deep as any other 350 block.

When the block was cast, material didn't make it there causing a void. And here we are.

Makes perfect sense, even though Ford will never reveal why it happened in the first place.

I believe so but not certain.

There is really no excuse to poor quality control on the single part that covers half the value of the vehicle. The good news is that if they are the same, then we have a larger sampling to look at, and the issue does not seem to be widespread.

I agree. however you would have never seen the crack propagation with the naked eye unless the block is NDI.

Looks like a casting issue caused the crack but who has not figured that out yet. Hate to hear that you have had such bad luck with your car. Can you take a pic backed out some to show the overall location a bit more. I tried to visualize where you are talking about but a pic would help. If one block had an issue there, maybe we all need to check.

I believe "Country of Origin" just means where a complex part was assembled. The individual components can come from anywhere.
