Debating on doing the 10 rib setup. This will be just a fun car to drive around town, not a daily driver. Can I get away with the 6 rib system or do I need to upgrade. Whipple 3.0 stg 2. Will be on 93 hoping I can settle in the 700’s on hp

No need for a 10 rib at that power level. Just get yourself a Griptech pulley and you are set.

Yea, I’m on the 3.25 on a 6-rib and some have gone all the way to 2.75 on it. At 700 rwhp you’re talking 3.625 pulley which is no problem on 6-ribs. I also worry about harmonics with the 10-rib setup since they use non-oem dampers.

You don't believe that aftermarket dampers are an upgrade over stock?

Yeah you will be perfectly fine with the 6 rib at around 700hp which should be around 10lbs of boost. Usually start to see belt slip once you get into the high 700's.

There are many theories on coyote crank snapping. Some think it is the added force to the crank that is required to spin the blower, but that doesn't explain turbo cars doing it, perhaps aftermarket dampers, but that doesn't explain NA cars with stock dampers doing it. I suspect most people who have aftermarket dampers are a little harder on the motor than those who don't have one. It would be difficult to determine root cause without a bit of analysis and is a guess at this point. Anytime you take off the damper and put a different one on (oem or aftermarket) you do increase the risk of not installing it properly. Make sure it fits and is seated, best you can do. And even then things happen.

6 rib is just fine. Don’t need 10 rib until you’ve got a built short block on e85 making 1k or more.
