Well - I don't want to get into the discussion on if needed or not.. Because it's needed IMO.

My question is in regards to overdriving items.. Whipple states you can achieve 20% overdrive with the optional balancer..

My question is more or less, Why ? what would be the potential pros/cons of overdriving the Waterpump/Alternator ? Bad for high RPM usage ??

If I could get whipple, or one of you more savy pd sc guys to learnded me, I'd appreciate it.

The overdrive balancer is in case you want to spin the blower faster than what's possible with Whipple's smallest pulley and the stock balancer pulley diameter. At some point you can't make the blower pulley any smaller because the belt won't grip it, thus you make the crank pulley larger to spin faster.

Roger that, Makes sense. Figured it would more or less come full circle for the blower for some reason or another..

Whipple, If someone was wanting to go OD out of the gate for future use, What would be the pulley desired to hit 10psi or so ?

I wonder how the waterpump/alternator would fare after extended use.

Approximately 4.50" which won't clear the hood or the SC inlet. Max diameter SC pulley is 4.125" without potential other issues.

The OD is good for built motors but on stock motors, it should never be needed. You can upgrade later, you have to get the outer ring but the inner hub is the same so at least its not the entire balancer.

I thought that maybe pulley diameter might end up being a thing..

So with the 4.125" you'd appx see... 13lbs or so ? Am I thinking correctly ?

How do we feel about the waterpump spinning 20% faster ? any cavitation issues ? (spelling)

Same with alternator - I'd imagine it would be OKAY.. Use to spin my alternators on the desert race truck pretty violently and they lasted just fine..

Thanks Whipple! Cannot wait to bolt that white beauty on once it arrives!
