I'm about to replace my middle muffler with a H pipe but I wondered if those people who had done this some time ago were still happy with their mod? In particular what is the noise levels like inside the car for long trips? (droning etc). Also can I expect any gain in HP?
I dont want to change too much but would like little more exhaust note than std but not at the cost of comfort on long trips.

I used the Heartthrob H Pipe with stock mufflers. Gives it some more growl, but nothing annoying. Most noticeble while accelerating, quiet while cruising.

I started off with just the Roush Axlebacks, and then added the H-pipe about 6 months after.

By far the best decision I have made. I wanted something that was half-way between a stock resonator and the h-pipe, and I couldn't find anything suitable. Instead, I went straight for the H-pipe.

You can control volume, it's a great exhaust with the resonator delete, and it doesn't drone so much as it is "loud" in some RPMs. The S550 chassis is actually insulated very well, which helps with these kinds of things.

This video should give you a good idea of what just an H-pipe with stock mufflers will sound like. I've got an H-pipe sitting in the garage to get put on soon. IMO, it's a nice exhaust mod if you just want a little more exhaust tone and still want it quiet unless you're heavy with the throttle.

I'm stock catbacks with h-pipe for now. Very quiet during normal driving. Great on the highway. I do want more loud though, so I will be adding axle backs to the equation.

Currently I have just the Roush axle-backs and I can not decide on a h or x pipe, just worried about obnoxious noise ?

Mine is extremely raspy until it warms up (< 5 min), then it sounds pretty awesome.

How about a y-pipe resonator delete, I have been looking at those?

I've got an H pipe with Borla ATAKs it's pretty loud during a cold start and through acceleration. Zero drone on the highway and when cruising. Can't even hear it.

Its a mild change. It sounds much better but really isn't much louder. Cold start is the loudest, and most awesome, part but it mellows out pretty quick. No drone and I haven't noticed a noise increase in the cabin.

I have the mrt h pipe in mine with roush axle backs. Before the roush it was a little louder. After roush a lot louder. Love it.
