It seems like just about every other day I am reading posts from unhappy people about issues they have with their new car. The more we read this, the more prevalent it seems. So I'm curious to see this in a poll, how many have and have not had issues?

panel alignment, upper rear brake light uneven, etc.

My transmission is noisy but operates perfectly. I'll chalk that up to the MT-82 being noisy. Other than that I am very happy with build quality so far.

Literally the only issue I've had is that the spots for jacking the car are hard to find, which led to the car falling off the jack while I was changing a wheel.

There isn't a large enough sample size yet...

Some things to keep in mind;

People with issues are much more vocal than those without. The quality text books say on average some one with a bad experience will tell 20 people, those with a good experience tell 5.

If you look at the JD Powers initial quality ratings the best cars have about 90 defects per 100 and the worst 150 defects per 100. They report the defects that way because it's more dramatic than saying .9 per car or 1.5 per car. In reality there is no such thing as a fraction of a defect so what you can take from the numbers is you can expect every car to have one or two defects.

ONE issue and it was immediately addressed. For some reason the collar that allows reverse didn't work. Took the guys in the shop about 5 minutes to fix it.

Other than that, the car and the experience was great.

Well...mine was perfect when I bought it.
It was a couple weeks later when my problem started.

I joined this forum when I googled 'squealing brakes 2015 mustang' (or something like that) and discovered others with the same problem. It is wonderful that we have such a useful source where we can voice our concerns, take action and learn how to file a claim, gather information and keep up-to-date on pending TSBs. And to exchange ideas and photos. And to vent. ;)

The kinda-bad side of this forum (or any forum) - for me anyway - is information overload. Had I not lurked through other threads, I would never have noticed all the body panel issues on my car, for instance. Now I have two problems. I am not hardcore enough to worry about the body panels because the misalignments are subtle enough for me. I didn't special order this car last May and agonizingly wait until December to receive it. Those owners would find the flaws on my car unacceptable, and there is certainly good reason for them to feel that way. I have the squealing brake issue, but it sounds easier to rectify than the panel problems as it doesn't involve tearing the thing apart. As much of a time-consuming, inconvenient, frustrating pain in the arse it is to have to deal with issues like these, at least they are cosmetic and not safety issues. Those are the ones that really worry me. /twocents

Obviously this car has many problems. Like everyone else, I am also pretty disappointed that Ford let these pass QC. Heads may or may not roll. It is a first-year model, but that really is a lame excuse. They spent all that time making this beautiful thing; they could have spent more time working out the kinks. In their defense, it seems many representatives of Ford are trying hard to make it right, even if late in the game. Once upon a time, none would give a crap.

Regardless of everyone's problems, notice most say they still love their car. :D

MagneticA, it could be that the problems are more prevalent because more cars are available to buy now. Or, it could be that people like me are reading these threads and finding they too are experiencing problems not noticed before :p

It would be interesting to see the results of your poll 6 months from now. :)

...........Good, I got my inquiry in in good time then. ;)

Would you be willing to to ask a Moderator to add Poll Choices for:
- Convertible - Perfect!!

- Convertible - Issues :(

I had a poll a while back, was asked to add some choices and a moderator said they were only ones able to make changes after a short while already posted... And he added them. :D

As being one of the small percentage of Convertible (soon to be) owners, I'm obviously interested in this feedback. ;) (no worries either way)

Exactly why it is good to post (and participate in) polls like this. So the larger perspective can be sampled. It's certainly not a scientific sampling, but it does help to show a more realistic perspective on what percentage of cars have no issues vs. with them.

If after a large enough response has been made and it showed that say 85% of Mustang owner's on these forums reported 'Perfect', that would give me a better feeling than what I have gotten reading the forums to date. I was starting to feel (however irrational) that my odds of having non minor issue(s) on my 2/27 sched. build convertible V6 were more than 50%. Unless my perception changes significantly I'm planning to drive the 1.5 hours to my dealer alone when it is ready. Planning to spend whatever time is needed to go over the car closely with my 'list'. I would be leaving the dealer with the list of fixes to be done (and not leaving 'with my new car') before I paid and accepted possession. Saves me the pressure of being there with my wife and feeling the need to take the car then and there. I'll see how I feel as the time gets closer.

I totally agree. Which is why it is good the thread was started now. Like a landscape architect says when asked when is the best time to plant a tree: "Twenty years ago." When is the next best time: "Now!" ;)

I agree that the "squeaky" wheel is the one that gets heard. I also think that for every squeaky wheel there are 3 others rolling smoothly.

Quality issues

Looking at the poll in the moment, it would mean 50% of each GT or EB had issues and 25% of V6 had an issue what makes sense because the V6 started later in production. I had I hope minor issues with hood and doors not aligned, trunk lit not aligned with taillights and some parts not installed proper where I was thinking: "How could this car pass the QC in the factory with not addressing this issues?"

That's were it gets interesting with "how people look" at things. My light sensor was not proper installed - but it was installed.

Is this OK for the QC? And yes. I tried to press it in but it wouldn't move.

Doors were installed but did they fit alright?

1/5" offset is OK for the QC or they only "check-mark" that the car has the doors installed? And yes. The door was closed not "half" open.

With that said, FORD got on the survey a 5 out of 10 in how the car looked like when I picked it up. Overall the survey for Ford and dealership including quality of the car (looking at it with the issues) was a 7 out of 10.
I did own in my life a couple of new cars and none of them did had this much alignment issues - some of them much cheaper in price and much better quality. I am still watching my display issue on my MyTouch 8". Switching the screen off in the evening when it is dark, it switches back on with no one touching it after a while. Switching it off again - it switches on again after a couple minutes.

I will watch how many recalls are coming in for the Mustang.

My hood is really hard to close. I literally have to slam it shut or it won't close. Any of you have the same issue?
Thanks

Yes I do. I give it a little push on the way down. Same with the trunk actually.
