The 350 would be then the RS series. The S then would be the GT.

The A, S, RS is the same thing as Ecoboost, GT, GT350. As much as Audi might want the cars to be seperate they aren't, it's the same car, just a different trim level.

The major difference is firing order between these two engines. Like I said before, think of it as the difference between the 5.0 coyote and 5.2 voodoo. The voodoo is based off of the coyote but the two have very different exhaust notes because of the cylinder firing order. The ecoboost is never going to sound like the mazdaspeed for this reason.
You're only partly right. Yes firing order changes sound. Even is more stable producing a very smooth note while odd(very few production motors) will produce a rumble, throaty note.

Ever hear of Equal/Unequal length headers? You can make a Subaru boxer sound like a honda(ok maybe not lol) just by changing the exhaust manifold. I'm saying the boxer engine gets its rumble from having an unequal length header.

Perfect video comparing what I am talking about.

The mazdaspeeds also have an unequal length manifold. Which is why a lot of people say speeds sound like subaru's in a way. Also firing order on the mazdaspeeds is 1,3,4,2. I can bet you the 2.3 ecoboost has the same firing order. Reason I say that is because the 2.0 eco has the same firing order. Why would ford suddenly change it?

It is a different trim level but they are considered different brands almost inside the company. The S/RS lines are their own section where the EB/GT all fall under the same label.

Well, to throw my two cents in - I'll either stay stock or go FR-Touring, depending on what they sound like in person. All of the other choices I've heard just sound - not good. And while sound isn't my primary concern, I'd rather it be quieter then massively loud.

Sounds horrendous! I wouldn't care if it added 200 HP. Chatted downpipe and stock catback for me.

A new video of the Touring (axle-back, though).

I'm digging it more and more.

Yeah, the Touring is a winner.

I think this, with an improved resonator (something like a single entry, dual exit Magnaflow) and an offroad downpipe will be a good combo.

Indeed, this or the full touring catback is what I'm going with.

This is what I'm talking about. I'm waiting for someone to make something that's actually unique like unequal length headers for the EB. There's lots of ways to change the sound. It seems like almost everybody is just going the easy route by making the piping bigger and calling it a day. That's why most of these EB exhausts sound so similar (at least to me). I'd give up a few HP with a less efficient exhaust design if it meant having a unique sound.

^ I wouldn't.

I'm not familiar, but if the exhaust manifold is integrated into the head then... stuff becomes a huge pain lol.

Do you have an EB? If so why not get a V6 then, or even GT? One of the biggest pros of the EB is more TQ/HP than a V6.

I think that the I4 on the EB sound is ok from factory, great with touring catback. It blows my mind that people are disappointed when it doesn't sound like a V6 or GT. It's a high performance I4.

Agreed, you get a Turbo knowing it'll never sound like an 8 (or even a 6). I love that rumble of a V8 like my last 3 mustangs had, especially the 2004 Mach 1 and 2009 GT with Borla. However, I'm not opposed to trying new things and I've grown to really like the sound of the Turbo 4's.

But, like I said, I need to hear all of these in person, but the clear choice so far is the Touring.

Find the Full Race thread. They said something along the lines that the mani is integrated into the turbo and not the head.

It's a little bit of both. The head has a 2 exhaust port design, where the cylinders 2 and 3 combine into 1 port, and cylinders 1 and 4 go into their own. The turbocharger turbine has a long "swan neck" input, which hooks up to the 2 ports from the cylinder head. The problem is that typical headers hook up directly to each port of each cylinder, not to a combined output that is found on the Mustang and Focus ST. You might be able to change the swan neck on the turbo, but it would do little to alter the sound. I believe the Focus ST has an aftermarket head which supports aftermarket headers, which also requires an aftermarket turbo. Very $$$.

EDIT: So apparently you can't link anything to svtperformance. If you google "mustang ecoboost cylinder head" it's a few scrolls down.

Here is the turbocharger turbine inlet, and you can see the 2 ports. The cylinder head is the same.
