The problem with Ford's line of 4 cylinder EcoBoost engines is that they are even firing 4s.... The mazdaspeed 3 and other turbo 4s are usually odd firing which in my opinion gives a bit better sound to the exhaust. Think of it as the difference in exhaust notes between the 5.0 coyote and the 5.2 voodoo. The 5.0 usually has a deeper more defined exhaust note where as the 5.2 has a more raspy exhaust note. Same principle in play here.

That's exactly right. These companies need to start trying to make it sound as good as a turbo-4 can, rather than trying to get it closer to a V8. That's what's making most of these early systems sound terrible.

IMO the catted version of this exhaust is the best sounding one so far. The catless version is horrible though.

Actually the point was that a turbo 4 can sound much better than what we have heard for our Ecoboost. We then used Mazdaspeeds as an example and briefly expanded on the topic. A video helps those who might not know what we are talking about.

For the Ecoboost, the MRT exhausts are decent. But, if we're being objective, none of the Ecoboost exhausts have that great of a sound even compared to other turbo 4s. That doesn't mean the exhausts are crappy, it just might be how things are going to be on this car.

The mazdaspeeds had a 2.3l DI turbo 4 which is practically the predecessor to the 2.3 ecoboost. I posted the vid up to show the neighsayers that a turbo 4 can actually sound really good. Biggest difference between the 2.3 in the mazda and the 2.3 in the mustang is the exhaust manifold. Which I think is the big culprit as to why the 2.3 eco doesn't sound as well.

You know, thinking about it, I really wish Ford did something with the Mustang like Audi does with the A5 model. They have the A series and then the S/RS series. I wish Ford adopted something like that for the Mustang to really make the 2 vehicles their own line/series.

The 350 would be then the RS series. The S then would be the GT.

Too many people are completely missing this point. I can't wait until people start complaining about the GT350 exhaust.
