Would you say best to order it unpainted, get it test fit, and then painted right?
I was debating ordering a pre-painted one but sounds like that caused quite a bit of extra hassle.

I would get unpainted and make sure to test fit first. If any issues call them right away. Have a local body shop match your current paint in case it has faded some.

I too went down the mod rabbit hole with my 2016Gt.. too fast.. too soon and ended up hating the car. I learned a valuable lesson about modifications. I ended up selling my 2016 for a loss, so that was painful. It took me 2 more car swaps to finally settle on the 350
It sounds like for the most part you've had some success, but lately a few losses.
YOu can probably sell that hood, even painted and see what someone will give you for it. The taillights I am not sure what AM return policy is.
I've kept my GT350 stock with the exception of the rear spoiler and wheels which I purchased the 2015-18 OEM parts for. Hope everything works out well for you.

I appreciate the advice. Updated this thread a few posts back. All 3 companies are sending new parts. I’m keeping the car and it’s coming back better than ever.

A couple yrs ago I ordered a Cervini hood in black. They claimed to use the same paint and process as FORD. I can say it was a good fit and a good match. See avatar

I’ve done nothing but OEM+ mods to my 17 GT minus the coilovers and those have been a huge PITA since day one. I can’t figure out why i can’t get the height right in the rear. It’s my daily so I get to see everyday but I still put the tools down for a while and “walk away”. I got back to it when I feel the need. Time and patience will win this battle. Sell the frustrations and start again at a later date.

Glad you are keeping your Car , you would think parts would fit better in the age of computers, Cad/ Cam ,scanning and maybe some of the higher end $$ parts do . My experience dates back to the stone age of the 60/70s nothing fit . Sounds like the same today . I'm a Stock enthusiast and think they look great from the factory.
I hope your new parts fit to you likings, if not put you factory parts back on , and enjoy the millions of dollars Ford spent to design and build to fit our cars correctly.

I have heard a ton of good stuff about cervini hoods. Thats why I bought one. But mine did not fit. But I am getting another brand new one. So let's hope the second one is better.

In case anyone was wondering, I did NOT get the new hood for free. But they sold it to me at cost and charged me shipping. Worked out to about half off.

I wanted to get a different brand hood but fell in love with the cobra r hood and now I have to have it.

I put the stock hood back on it for now and went out for a drive with the car today. It's the first drive since I installed the rear seat delete. HOLY CRAP the exhaust was so much louder sounding inside the car.

Keep in mind I have Mach 1 mufflers and Roush h pipe. To ME it's kinda stupid loud in all modes except quiet. Even with the rear seat delete, quiet mode was still quiet. There is still possibly a chance I will go and put the stock seats back in it. Not sure yet.

I have a road trip coming up in the next couple months and I will make my decision after that road trip if the rear seat delete stays or goes.

I agree, please keep in mind I built and modified my car using nothing but Ford performance, RTR, Mach 1 and Mustang bullit parts. So I kinda consider my car stock in a way if that makes sense.

However the tail lights, seat delete and hood were aftermarket. And that's when the problems started.

I will say the only aftermarket company that I have had ZERO problems with has been Steeda. The parts fit and the customer service I received from them was amazing.

I understand now why a lot of people spend the extra money on a Shelby, a Mach 1, a Roush or even a RTR because those cars are modified perfectly already.

I have to admit even though I don't ever plan on selling my current Mustang. If I ever bought another it would be one of those cars mentioned or whatever new version is out.

Same here man, except these last 3 mods lol. I am not selling my car but my Mustang will come back better than ever. I am determined to build this car exactly how I want it.

I am glad I took the time to cool down and rethink my decision because I love my car. And not to mention how great the Mustang community has been to me. Instead of kicking me when I was down, all you guys gave me words of encouragement and positivity. Thanks for that.

Hang in there, and I again hope you parts fit to you likings and above all don't get discouraged, I'm 70 and been having fun with cars since my Dad let me help him about 5 years old. I've had plenty of ups and many downs that have cost plenty of $$ . Right now my newest acquisition 1967 GTO all Stock original from the Original owner family, is a survivor absolutely beautiful car . It's a survivor 59 years old , so it not getting the normal treatment I've done in the past , with a full Restoration. There only stock original once.
I guess the moral of the story is don't get discouraged. Just have fun .
