I may have to trade her in or sell. It’s killing me.

A few people are assuming you’re underwater on the loan, but I read it like you aren’t. My advice is still the same, sell-the cars will always be there.
Yeah I re-read and see I had it backwards. Sorry about that, OP!

I was in the same position in 1990. I had to trade in a SS Monte that I loved for a Dodge Caravan. It hurt, but was the right thing to do. Family first always.

I have made over 50 trips around the sun. I have bought and sold "dream cars" several times. It is part of life unfortunately, but what goes around comes around. At my age now, I can finally afford to have the car I love, and am grateful for all those I have owned all those years, definitely makes life interesting. ALWAYS best to put family first.

That said, trade that puppy in for an Explorer ST. :) Tons of GO and plenty of room for the family. :)

Life has a way of making you make choices you don’t want to make. If it makes you feel better I️ had A 96 mystichrome cobra. Man I️ loved that car back then. I️ swore I️ would keep it forever. I️ still see them today and get nostalgic. Had to sell the car to do the responsible thing as well. Had 5 kids and put myself through college. It is that time in my life where the kids are older and I️ saved Money to buy a car for fun. I️ found A beautiful silver 2020 GT 500. I️ have done a few things to make it mine. I️ still love those 96 cobras, but I️ swear driving this 500 puts a smile on my face every time I️ am behind the wheel. You never know what cars will be out there when the time comes to where you can get another one. Just my two cents.

I have a '23 Expedition Timberline. Has more power and features than my base-ish S550. Better choice for the family.

I would second or third an Explorer ST…we had two Explorer Sport before the ST came out and loved them 😬👍🏼

A 4th for an Explorer ST. Or even an ST line. I have a good friend who is doing the same, though he has a modded out SHO, he does not drive it anymore. Hehas a very modded, very lifted F250 that he says it is hard for the family to hop in. So he is looking for another family performance vehicle. The ST is the way to go.

The only issue with the ST is that a nice used one at a decent price/mileage may be hard to find. If at all possible, keep the GT350 and find a 15+ F150. A super crew will easily fit everyone comfortably, and you even have a bed to boot. Hmm, a 21+ Bronco fits in here as well, even a Bronco Sport has plenty of room.

Don’t ever buy things and budget your purchases using overtime.. 🤦🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️. Overtime is never always there or guaranteed. Can’t understand why people spend over what they have and work double shifts etc to pay for their hobbies… save for longer or wait longer to buy toys until you can afford them.

I'll say it again: Explorer ST dude. You're making the right call to put family first. But the ST will keep the connection between your right foot and your butt active. I have a friend who drove his straight to Livernois Motorsports when he picked it up used.

He put turbos, big CAC, exhaust, etc. on it. It will run in the TENS on 110 octane. No bull.

I have a friend who has done the charge pipes and bigger IC for his ST. It is a great upgrade, and you can also get a tune or use the Ford Performance device on it. Win Win.

Depending on your area, it may take a bit to find one. I have been looking for my friend and it has been slim pickings down here in S. FL.

Like the title says. I have reached a decision point. A few things have converged making the GT350 not too optimal for me.

1. I had free overtime for the last 3 years. I was working 70-80hour weeks every single week since then. I work from home on a laptop sitting on my ass. Long hours aren’t hard. I was CRUSHING IT financially. Now I’m restricted in OT to much less. I’m not broke, but I have less fun money. The car is worth more than I owe, so I won’t get hurt too bad selling or trading.
2. I have a kid on the way, and the GT350 is just not a good family car. I also like fishing and surfing and need a vehicle for carrying that stuff.
3. I have no warranty and if I had a catastrophic engine failure it would financially cripple me.
4. Because I work from home, I barely drive. I have this huge car payment for a car that just sits there. I do maybe 5-6k miles a year; sometimes less.

I really don’t want to do it. But it just seems like the rational thing to do right now. It’s got 44k miles and is in pretty good condition. Clean carfax, fresh tires, no dings or scratches bigger than a dime, it’s clean.

Chevy offered 42-44k trade in depending on condition. Checking prices that seems pretty fair.

This sucks. I don’t want to do it, but may have too. It really is the best car I have ever had. I probably will never be able to get another one. There just isn’t that many of them floating around that hit all my wickets. I was lucky to find this one.
