There are two alpine white Mach 1s closer to me, both about 3 hours away, and I’m planning to check them out this week. One is a Handling Package (HP) car with a 6-speed (which I prefer), and the other is a non-HP automatic. I’ll likely drive both just to compare.

I’ve been doing more research on the HP setup, specifically the Michelin Cup 2 tires. My use case is mostly weekend driving with occasional track days—probably 2–3 times a year. I expect to put around 1,000–2,000 miles per year on the car, and it will never be driven in the rain or on wet roads.

From what I’ve read, the Cup 2s are very aggressive—stiffer, noisier, and less comfortable than something like PS4S, with faster wear. That makes me question whether it makes sense to run them full-time for my type of use.

For those of you with the HP cars:

How are the Cup 2s for normal weekend street driving in dry conditions?

Do they feel overly harsh or “busy” on typical roads?

Did you keep them, or switch to something like PS4S for regular driving?

I’m trying to balance enjoying the car on the street while still having the capability for occasional track use.

I replaced the Cups with PS4S the day after taking delivery. Driving home from the dealership on the cups sounded like popcorn in the wheel wells.

I test drove a 2023 Mach 1 Alpine white, 700A, with the Handling Package today at a dealership. It had the Michelin Cup tires, and I could definitely feel the difference—more road noise and a lot more feedback through the tires. Not necessarily a bad thing, just more aggressive. For weekend driving and cruising, I think I could live with it.

One thing I noticed is the car doesn’t have the HP front splitter installed. The second owner actually works at the dealership and came out to talk to me. He said he contacted the original selling dealer and was told it was never installed. Are those splitters typically installed by the dealer, or do they come from the factory? He said he added the black composite trim around the wheel wells as well, I thought that came from the factory too with the HP package? He also added rock chip cards behind the wheels, which I like.

I’m a little unsure how I feel about paying for the Handling Package but not having the HP front splitter. That said, I actually prefer the look of the standard splitter that’s on the car now anyway.

He also mentioned this was “build number 5” and said he could tell from the VIN. Does that actually mean anything or add any value?

The car also doesn’t come with the original owner’s kit (not sure exactly what it’s called). Does that impact value at all?

Overall, I like the car a lot. I’m just not sure I need the Handling Package. I’ve driven a couple non-HP cars and didn’t notice a huge difference for how I’d use it. I’m also not a big fan of the larger rear spoiler that comes with the HP setup. It felt "plasticly" cheap to me and I noticed it was vibrating at high speeds.

That’s a great car, at a very nice price. I’d hop on it right away. Lower splitter and wheel arches are installed by dealer not from the factory. You can easily source the lower splitter from a vendor like @LevittownFordParts for around ~$500 or so. Honestly, you’ll want the HP or you’ll end up adding it later.

I put my search on hold. Recently saw this one, chatted with the dealer, seems like a good car, one owner, Carfax shows a good maintenance history, one minor accident. I don't like the rear window cover vent thing, hoping that would be something easy to take off.

It was priced close to 50, they're starting to lower the price, when I asked why they said because they're not getting interest.

It's a 2-hour drive for me each direction, before I go, wanted to check here and see if there's any obvious things I should be asking about before making the trip.

A lot fewer miles on this one and personally, I love Grabber Yellow, it’s super rare and underrated:

That's, like... an insanely good deal in today's market, isn't it? There must be a catch... If not, my car might not be worth as much as I thought.

Only knock I can see is that it has had three owners, which is quite a few for a late model Mustang with only 8K miles. I also never liked those standard wheels, but that's a personal preference.

Love the color and spec otherwise.

I'm not selling or trading my '21 Mach 1, but Carvana is offering me a lot more for my higher mileage car than that one. Unless it has a wreck that's a screaming deal. Grabber Yellow is one year only and super rare. Throw on a square set of 19x11 wheels, splitter and spoiler and it will look sharp. Add springs and camber plates if you want to track it. There's really a ton of value in the non-HP models.

EDIT: Found the catch:

1) Corporate fleet vehicle in Florida
2) It's a repo car
3) Multiple dealers have tried to sell this car only to send it to auction

what type of options does your car have carvana is offering significantly more? I ran mine through, and the offer was right at 46500
