I’ve driven both. GT500 has it all, except…….that damn rotary dial and DCT instead of a clutch pedal option. DCT was fabulous though. Too bad, so sad I guess. I’d rather have a ZL1 Tremec than the 500 because of that one omission. Those who can’t/won’t drive a manual will obviously disagree.
LOL. I hear you. I’d have agreed years ago. But after being stuck in LA for the past half decade, I curse the invention of the manual transmission every time I’m on the 10, 210,57, 5, 405, etc.

I don't own either so I did not vote.
However, I would only consider a 500 over my Mach 1, DCT is not a downgrade to me despite my insistence on a manual in a fun car.

Bingo. This is the exact point I made in detail in the other thread and the translation over here is “GT500 not upgrade”. Disingenuous imo.
Like everything else in life, it depends on what you like and dislike. Some people say soccer is better than American football, some like Camaros over Mustangs, Ford over Chevy, etc., etc. It's all individual preference and whatever floats your boat is best for you (and what you can afford).

It is a stupid question in any context! They are totally different platforms and meant for different people. I love them both each one for their own individual attributes. Oh, and you as well Mach 1s.

Thank Carroll Shelby and Ford for different models to make everyone happy.
Unfortunately Carroll Shelby passed away over 14 years ago and just to be clear Shelby American in LV had nothing to do with the engineering, development or designing of the most recent generations of Mustang Shelby GT350/R or the 3rd generation GT500 models.

If I could afford either or all… my preference would be Mach1 for Friday night fun and dinner, GT500 for Saturday morning drag strip racing, GT 350 for Sunday morning cruises through the White mountains!

Yep. And the fact that SA had nothing to do with them is a huge plus. But that’s a whole other thread unto itself.

I think that it is a great question and for me it all comes down to each individual's definition of what an "Upgrade" means.

From my standpoint an upgrade does not equate to which model is faster in a quarter mile or on a road course but it comes down to the complete design, MSRP pricing, curb weight, transmission choices, NA engine V forced induced engine and overall desirability but for me it mostly comes down to driver overall engagement and enjoyment.

After having seat time in both models, the answer for me was quite simple as the driving engagement/enjoyment of shifting a NA 5.2L FPC engine at 8,250 RPM that comes equipped with a manual transmission V a 5.2 L CPC engine at 7,500 RPM that comes with a 2 pedal DCT transmission is like day and night.

Add to that the aural sound of the resonator delete GT350R models and in the case of the 136 Base R models that came with sound deadener delete along with 15 other delete items, the choice for me was not even close.

It is like asking if the electric is an upgrade. Different cars! Not an upgrade, Different name, different specs, different goals. The only thing in common is MUSTANG!

Two different Cars Platform.

Edit : Same car , same platform , I used wrong wording . I meant "Two different intended uses" , not to say they can't cross into each other's arena .
