I went from my Tissot automatic to wearing this as my daily now. Does everything I need it to do for about CDN$200, half of which is the Long Island Watch bracelet. Also have a NATO strap for travelling to countries where I follow one of my mantras…”never wear a watch worth more than your hand.” Less bling, less attractive. Oh, and I don’t have to remove for it shower maneuvers 😉

Soooo, the F1 watch is still available for preorders. That’s been open for a few weeks now. Regardless of your opinion of the piece, I find it hard that at only 1959 pieces, it’s not sold out yet. I wonder what the tactic is here? Are they just gonna accept unlimited number of deposits and then when it comes delivery time, cut the bottom losers?

I would have to think they would cut off preorders once they’re all spoken for. I wouldn’t think they’d oversell the amount they intend to produce but maybe?

That's what I would think, but then again, starting to doubt myself. For example, the airlines never stop selling seats (I think). If they oversell, they just deal with the fallout. If you read the small print for the watch, it reads as if you don't make the cut, they just refund your deposit. It's probably hard to balance; they try to cut it off when sold out, but people don't commit so now they have extras, etc, etc. Probably a whole list of stuff they have to deal with.

Probably a good analogy with the airlines. They may oversell them knowing X% will likely not actually buy one by cancelling their order. Who knows for sure

Here’s another thing I’ve noticed with Breitlings numbered pieces. I currently have an older, boutique piece. It’s number 22/100. Of recent, (we’ll use this F1 piece as an example), instead of numbering the piece, it’s stamped with “one of 1959”. So literally every piece says the same thing; “One of 1959”. Without individual numbering, who’s to say you couldn’t make a million of them and throw that statement on there? Who would ever know? Wonder why they did away with numbering?

Here is my latest, a surprise from my wife: Cuervo y Sobrinos-Churchill. The presentation in the humidor is outstanding.

Picked this up. I wanted my next luxury piece to have a bit more "look at me" which took some careful consideration.
On wrist in a few days!
