Looking for a good quality water pump that has a metal impeller, instead of plastic? Check out Aisin water pumps for the Coyote 5.0 on Rock Auto. Aisin is an oem supplier for Toyota and other Japanese brands btw.

Thanks for the side by side!

Aisin is part of the Toyota group of companies and usually GTG.

There is a Ford Performance waterpump that supposedly has a larger GT350 spec impeller, very curious about that one. Only ever saw one guy post here about trying it and he reported a small but noticeable drop in CHT with it.

Pricey though at about twice a standard pump IIRC.

Yep…M8501-M52A is the Ford Performance upgraded pump. However, at 3x the cost of the Aisin, it should come with an aluminum impeller. You can see the impeller is larger in the picture.

I worked at Aisin as Program Manager for nine years in Michigan. Great company.

Used an Aisin timing belt change setup (new timing belt, water pump and tensioner on my old Honda Civic.) The Aisin stuff was oem replacement and never gave me an issue. Quality and price were both on point. That was circa 2016.

Yep, I have used Aisin kits in all my Toyota timing belt services.
If the Ford Performance version had come with an aluminum impeller, I would have probably bit the bullet and bought that one. However, $250-$280 for essentially the same pump with a larger “plastic” impeller. Nope.

Thanks for the pic!

I'm not really averse to plastic impellers in general though I am aware of certain cars having problems in initial runs with them.

Have there been problems with plastic impellers in the Coyote engines?

In theory, plastic should be fine but...we all know what happens to plastic when exposed to heat cycles and time. Plastic tends to get brittle and crack. Not a concern with an aluminum impeller. Not sure on stats of breakage issues but for essentially the same $$, I will go with the tried and true metal impeller and the proven record of Aisin water pumps.

Do they manufacture fuel pumps? Bought a Aisin fuel pump for a gt500 as a test to upgrade my fuel system but I couldn’t find any specs or info for the product or info regarding the pumps they use

Aisin does make fuel pumps. As they acquired Denso in 2022, so it maybe a Denso fuel pump.
