Looking at C8 Corvettes, and I just... can't... Is it just me or do others view them the same?

So here I am on a Saturday evening looking at cars for sale on Carfax. Hard to believe the GT350 ceased being built 6 years ago! GT500 4 years ago. Mach 1, 3 years ago.... I'm still not on board with the Dark Horse. So, I started looking at '24-'26 C8 Corvettes... No doubt the Corvettes perform. But I just can't get into the design. I just can't. Am I biased? No, it's just that I don't like how they look. So, I have two questions:

1) Is it just me?

2) If folks are looking for a performance vehicle, that is not a Mustang due to aging last Gen models, or the new Gen because of the tablet dash screens, what do you think they are buying?

I'm just throwing this out there. Kind of a pretend we are having a few Scotches and chewing the fat on all thing's cars.

I'm with you, the C8 is a little fugly IMHO. A little bit hard to look at. Of course, no manual transmission doesn't help.

I'm still behind 2018+ Mustang design. But scotch is a good idea.

C7 is classy. I'm still thinking GM should stay with FR design for Corvettes and revive Corvair instead of C8s. Ha. Ha. No I'm serious.

Thank you for your response! I was looking at a 24 C8 LT2 (or 2LT I can't remember what they call it) it was like a cement grey, super well equipped, around $75k, low miles, relatively nearby, and while I am not in the market per se (I just like to "shop" as in window shop) I just couldn't get over the look. If I am going to go to my wife and have "the" conversation, I had better be drooling over the possibility of obtaining the car and I just couldn't. Maybe I am just getting older and not so open to change. If Ford produced a 2026 Mustang GT350 I'd be all over it. But wow, C8 not moving the needle.

Previous gen Corvettes get my attention. Like whiplash attention. A few years ago I was at a Ford dealer getting an oil change on my 21 Mach 1 (last car before I "upgraded"). I had just got it and was quite happy. Then I saw a 19 Corvette on the used car portion of the lot. It was low miles, kind of a purple black metallic... Holy bad word it was stunning. If I didn't just get the Mach 1 I would have been all in no matter what. But now new design not so much.

Everything super boring now time to go back to 60s and 70s restomods after builders lost 70% of spend.

My main issues with the C8 corvette is that I don’t fit in one wearing a helmet and I don’t want to figure out how to put my racing equipment in the frunk and trunk.

My secondary issue is that my lightly modded 2018 GT is faster and more fun than the Z51 and the Z06 is wildly angry and expensive.

A co-worker has a blacked out c8. It definitely looks better in person. Do I want one? No. I'd much rather have a c6 z06 or zr1. Only problem with that is the interior is pretty outdated compared to my car.

When comparing apples to apples, it looks like I'm going to hang on to my s550 for the foreseeable future.

FWIW id rather buy a BMW m2 before I bought an uglier, fatter, rounder, more retarded version of my car.

My freind just bought a triple black 26 z06 z07 convertible. It's definitely an impressive car but I think I would go tremec blackwing and save some money.

I think you are either a Corvette guy or not one. I'm not one and never had a desire for one. To me they are just a little too pretentious. I believe the C8 is a good car and a great value bit it's just not for me.

C6 or C7 is the way to go for Vette’s. The C8’s are just sterile and boring IMO. Great performance for the $$, just a boring car.

C6Z06 still has a lot of appeal to me. I'd be okay with a manual C7. Hard pass on base C8s. It is an eye sore to me. It feels like they finally made a car for the newly balanced gold chain golfers their demographic morphed into. It just comes off as a Walmart attempt at a Supercar, which seems so sad. You know how Walmart will try to copy some fashion thing, but get all the. details wrong. Every details is screwed up almost like it was intentional and it does not fit anyone right. That's the C8 in my eyes. It feels like they thought being mid engine was enough to make it cool. Some of the higher specs add a couple bits that help, but not enough for me. I thought maybe I would get used to it over time. Not at all so far. I know they are fast, they still haven to given me any motivation to buy one.

It's not just the Corvette that dropped the ball in my eyes. I also prefer the S550 over the S650, the period generation of M2 over the new M2, and the M5 as well. The old Challenger to the new Charger. Porsche built a new electric Cayman/Boxter that they are dragging their feet releasing, because ...

I think we already have passed peak automotive driving experience for me and I'm starting to hear that from a lot of others as well. I know cars will just keep getting faster, but I think they are also less fun on the streets.
