For any one with a supercharger did you upgrade the oil pump gears?

I ran stock OPG for about 18 months on a Roush Phase 1 kit on the canned Roush tune. Changed to a PBD tune, added long tubes and had a Boundary OPG and C/S installed for peace of mind. I should also note that the stock OPGs were heavily scored on one side when they were removed... :whew:

How much extra work is the install if I’m already installing the whipple?
Its still a fair amount more work however if you do it after you pretty much have to take the full supercharger kit off.

My friend keeps telling me I really should. So my next question is are cam gears included with the oil pump gear set. Educate me please. Not really familiar with this. Also how is the ford performance oil pump gear set I linked below for an 18? Will they do the job? Thanks in advance.

I highly recommend upgrading the oil pumps gears and sprocket if you are going supercharged to preserve your motor. Those stock OPGs seem to be the cars only achilles heel when boosted. You can shoot me a message or give us a call and I can answer any questions you have here at @LethalPerformance! tel:1.877.253.8425

I did the boundary gears while doing my Whipple install. Not difficult, just a little nerve racking setting the timing, and pulling reinstalling the harmonic balancer. I enjoy working on the car almost as much as driving it though.

FYI I reused the valve cover and front cover gaskets. Just added new silicone at the required places.

TSS opg is all Id ever use going forward.
TSS has decades history with Ford.
Have used an MMR.
Replaced chains n TGs due to wear and use of Whippled 15 on roadcourses (several sets of primary chains worn out). Stock chains get trashed quickly shifting at 8k.

uhhhh, check if you already have forged TG oem.
The forged Ford TG is $50. Its profile and case hardening is superior for mating with the OEM timing chains.

I asked earlier if you planned to DIY with no response...
If you are planing to go that way, I have a couple of tips that might save you a bit of trouble.

Hey sorry bro. I haven’t been able to check until today I read thoroughly. No I’m absolutely going to pay to have the work done.

My other question is my friend said I might want to change the actual oil pump too. Now I saw boundary made one for the 15-17 but not the 18. Is that even necessary? I’ve never heard any one really bothering to change the pump itself just the gears.
