@thelostotter do you have pics of the stock valve covers? Did the driver look like mine? How did the passenger side look?

Ran 4 20 min sessions at West track yesterday and the car didn't consume any noticeable amount of oil. So far so good.

Will have to wait and see how it does at AMP or East track.

thought it was interesting that they are held onto the head with about twice as many bolts as the stock covers.
So does that mean that about half the holes on the new covers are don't line up with anything on the stock head and are just left empty?

They look just like yours. The GT500 passenger side cover follows the same path as the stock cover. Driver side on the bottom in the pic.

The GT500 covers use all 14 bolts per side; the head is drilled and tapped at all locations. You can see in the pictures below which holes in the stock covers do not have bolts installed. Some of the spots missing bolts aren't even drilled to accept a bolt.

The heads (and timing cover) are drilled and tapped for all 14 of them.

Any issue with powdercoating these? Would you have to remove the baffles, or just the seals? Most ovens run 350-400 F.

The Ford Performance site says they can be powder coated. I imagine the sealant they use should be good up to the temperature of the oven, but I’d check with the guys at Ford to be sure.

Ran at the same track today that gave me issues in December. These GT500 valve covers solved the issue for me. I also put on a driver side catch can at the same time which caught about 1 oz of oil total today after four 20 minute sessions. Zero smoke. Passenger side can caught <0.25 oz, barely enough to cover the bottom of my cup, and this also includes about 500 miles of daily driving since I emptied it last.

Driver side can contents at the end of the day:

I've been having this exact issue on Track and I keep trying bigger catch cans with no luck. This thread is the greatest gift I could possibly receive. I just ordered a KR3Z-6582-C. Wish I could buy you all beers!!!!!

Update: I went back to the track that I had the issue with and the valve cover certainly helped fix the issue. I also added a Moroso oil pan so not sure how much that helped as well, but I am getting almost no oil out of the driver side catch can now. Feels so nice to run at full tilt without having to worry about ingesting gobs of oil.

Heck Yeah man! I added that moroso road race pan to mine a few months ago. When I put the car back together after spinning rod bearings.

Is this issue not applicable to 2018+s?

I guess this is what 18+ look like https://www.oemfordpart.com/oem-parts/ford-valve-cover-jr3z6582b

I havent ever noticed any smoke and my catch can doesnt catch a ton of oil, but I havent done a track day, and I do burn some oil, maybe 1 qt per 2k miles , but I do rev it to 7500 about 20 times a day

The issue seems to present itself on track with sticky tires and high g. I wouldn't worry about it on a street driven car.

I was wondering if it wouldnt be applicable to 18+'s due to different valve covers and oil pan design, in case I did decide to track it
