Unbelievable numbers. Well done Chevy.

Title of this thread should be updated with the real numbers!

Manufacturers want the Journalists to roll in comfort while testing these cars. I think it is also a good benchmark considering you get the most heavy version of the car to test and it is conservative.

Pricing has been out for a while, so that shouldn't be a surprise. You can top 100k if you tick every option box.

Base C8 + Z51 + mag ride = 67k and will be a killer track car. Well, wait a year or two and pick a used one up for way less

curious as to your definition of 'way less' is. Mine is minimum 20% down from MSRP on a 2-year old car and 25% is more like it. It seems GT350 owners march to their own depreciation schedule.

What I'm hoping for? Around 50k. Of course, finding a base + z51 + FE4 will probably be next to impossible.

You would probably also want at least the good seats with those options.

Maybe an interior upgrade from 1LT? 3LT is a must have say many.

Do you actually have to tick every option of the base model Corvette to get it over 100K?

Yeah, when I'm driving a $60K car, I expect a decent amount of electronic goodies, and safety and luxury type upgrades.

Plus, you get those exclusions for some options unless you first upgrade to the next trim level, heck, just the HUD alone is worth going from 1LT to 2LT. That slick front camera system to avoid shredding the airdam? 2LT only. Want the nicer, more supportive GT2 seats? It's only on 2LT (and ~$1500), or can move up to the Sport Seats that require a steering wheel upgrade too (~$2600).

Point being: sure, you can skip quite a few things that would be nice for the other 300+ days you're __not__ on track, taking a long road trip, parking, driving in cold weather, etc.

Playing around I priced out a 1LT how I would order it (Z51 / FE4 / comp. seats) and it came out to 67.6k. Priced out the same in 2LT, 76.7k. 9k extra, but we all know there will be rebates out the wazoo on these things in a year or so.

The only thing I would really miss on the 1LT would be the HUD. I was happy when I found a base SS with the only option being the 1LE package. They need something similar for the C8. Just give me the Z51, fancy shocks, HUD, and competition seats.

Yeah. https://www.motortrend.com/news/new-corvette-c8-costs-way-more-than-the-c7/

Top spec C8 is about 106k, C7 stingray 96k.

Just so we are clear, because the C8 has been compared (wrongly) to the 2020 GT500

2020 C8
price: $88k (higher than well option non CFTP GT500)
weight: 36xx ( 500lbs less than base GT500)
0-60: 2.8 ~ .5 faster than GT500
1/4mile: 11.2 @122mph ( ~.5ET and 10mph slower than GT500)
Gratton Raceway lap time: 1.26 ( 5 seconds slower than GT500)

And we wonder why they dont compare the GT500 to the Camaro anymore lol

Nothing, other than the 0-60 time you posted is accurate. Its 600 pounds lighter than the GT500. It did 11.1@123 in the 1/4. You don't know any of the numbers for the GT500, and you're fooling yourself if you think it will trap mid 130s. And where is this test where the GT500 is 5 seconds faster around Grattan than the C8? Post a link. You must have set that time for Ford because they have not let any publications test the car in any manner. You have to keep lying to yourself about numbers and stats to feel better, go for it, but don't post BS on the forum that is blatantly false just to skew things into your favor.

And you think the GT500 will beat the Viper ACR around Grattan? lol the ACR makes double the downforce at 150mph then the GT500 makes at 180. At 177mph the ACR makes 1700 pounds, 3x what the GT500 makes. 1,000 pound lighter car, with better tires. Yeah, ok.

Sorry but what are we comparing here? Base C8 Z51 is way cheaper than base GT500. Get the GT500 track ready with the Carbon Track package and you are above $90k.

Of course I would prefer all the nice interior and feature stuff in the C8 which is pricy for a reason. But just take a look at this interior! This is next level for Chevy, Ford, etc - It's real premium stuff you expect from a high equipped BMW or Audi. The GT500 still has the same mostly plastic interior as a base GT, same goes for a ZL1 1LE - Great performance but it's by no means a premium car from the inside. You don't care about interior and equipment? Great, go for a 1LT.

Even though some people don't want to hear it: According to the review numbers the C8 Z51 (495 hp) for $67k will indeed beat the C7 Z06 (650 hp) in absolutely every measurement besides a veeeeery long straigth line. And the C7 Z06 was already an impressive sportscar.

Can the C8 Z51 outperform a GT500 on track? Maybe on short curcuits with a lot of corners, but the power advantage is insane on the GT500. But no matter how you compare it the C8 is an absolute bargain, as the reviews state it: An exotic car for a reasonable price. And everybody can buy it. They will build about 40,000 C8s per year. The GT500 is an awesome car, but they are buildung what, 5,000 of it? And dealers go insane with markups.

You don't have to like the C8. But there's no doubt it set a new bar for the combination of interior quality, performance and price. It's no one trick pony like the Hellcats. Give it a few years and you maybe get a 2LT Z51 for about $50k - The price you pay for a good loaded new 2SS or GT.
