GT350 - Is it safe to Supercharge (Whipple)

If what you want to do is SC and drag your car......you bough the wrong Mustang.

The GT350 is a track car, not a strip car. You'd be far better off getting a 10A 2019 and boosting that, then trying to turn a purpose-built track car into a strip car.

Plus, you'd be completely ruining a great car, destroying it's resale value.

I clearly stated this car was a street car, will not be going to track or drag strip. I really never bought a car for resale values as cars are not great investments since you mostly lose money. However, on the street it would be nice to have more low end power, which the SC would provide.

That being said, I keep hearing it will not run good on the race track with the SC, has anyone actually done this instead of just speculating?

Most are speculating, going off what they were told, or just guessing. The GT350 Voodoo engine can take boost easily if done correctly. No the engine is not fragile. I know of quite a few boosted GT350 running around town. I also know of a few who track their cars with the S/C on them. Now the question becomes are you a hardcore track guy ? Well the OP answer is no. So having a S/C on a STREET car is always fun. That said, I run my GT350 with the mods in my sig. I been the 700+ route and while fun at the 1/4 track, it can be not so much fun on the street.

I make 505 on 93, and 525 on the corn. Driven correctly and you can smoke most things on the street at that power level. Even at the track you can give people a run for their money in F/I cars. On the twisties you have not lost a thing. Just gained some more umph and its def not a bad thing. OP do what you think is fun for YOU. To your question, yes it is safe to boost a GT350. Whipples are fine and their tunes and the (flight?) software works well. If I had to boost....well TT all the way.

If I owned a GT350 I personally wouldn’t boost it. The most I would do is something like a resonator delete, JLT cold air intake and a Lund E85/93 tune to help with that extra power you are craving.

Leaning towards doing the whipple. For what I want it for it makes sense. I had a 2004 cobra, heavily modified with over 700hp. You just have to respect the power and be afraid of it at times. But is nice knowing you have it when a vette, hellcat or demon pull up next to you. LOL

OMG this thread. OP put a whipple on that thing. That car will be an awesome street car. The only reason I didnt get a gt350. That I would of whippled immediately. Is because I really like the 18+ with the 401a package with A10 and I want to go 9's. I will receive my car/order the end of the month And I have a whipple in my garage already with a bunch of other stuff. Point is what I said up top. Put a whipple on. The gt350 definitely needs that low end Tq to be a fun street car IMO. So again put that whipple on and have a great time lol.

Unless your driving at the limit on a track you will not notice a major handling change. Get the stiffer springs and sway bars for sure. Tire selection and air pressure are way more important for street driving. A Whipple is a lot to handle and unless you have a calibration that makes it easier to put down power you will struggle coming out of corners. Worry about heat first.
