Honestly, just go to an exhaust shop and have your stock mufflers welded back on. And I would just keep the stock exhaust and run with that. The borla touring catback is probably the tamest catback there is, and if you didn't like that one, then none of them are going to be adequate.

That was my plans this weekend. I'm fed up with the interior noise levels in all these kits.

I love my Touring Axle Backs from Ford Racing. Not too loud, but loud enough when you step on it.
These should do the trick if stock is to quiet.

borla atak cat back
borla s-type cat back
borla touring catback
FRPP sport cat back & with resonator
Roush Axles
Stock

what i meant is i cannot remember what they all sounded like at this point
I'm guessing money isn't too much of a concern if you've gone through 5 of the more popular exhaust systems in a year, so at this point I would go with Rush Active or XForce Varex. Then you can adjust to whatever volume you want whenever you want.

Thanks guys for all the input. After trying so many systems I feel like I failed going back to stock again. I find it hard to believe nobody can duplicate stock inside noise levels through the lower rpms while giving a nice throaty sound outside the vehicle with an axle back.

Well, it is simple acoustics. If it is louder outside, then it is louder inside. (Yeah, I know, I am a master at stating the obvious, right?)
It is though you are asking for a "nonlinear loudness curve" for the exhaust. Same loudness at low RPM's and then increasing with RPM. Many systems hint at this in their ad copy, but I am very skeptical of these claims.

I haven't even begun my exhaust journey, and already I feel your pain. So much time, trouble, and expense just to get the exhaust a tad louder but with no drone.

I don't know if you still have an exhaust graveyard lying around, but if you did, I suppose you could try the Borla Touring with the factory resonator. IOW, a Borla Touring axleback. Resonator for no drone, and Touring for "tad louder". What do you think?

There is no Borla Touring axleback. The touring catback uses the S-type muffler and combines it with a mid muffler/resonator.

The FRPP Touring catback uses a standard xpipe, so that muffler is probably even quieter when paired with a resonator.

So I thought these Roush axle backs did the trick but again too loud for me. So I'm wanting to put the stockers back on. Having cut them off, is there anyway to have these re installed without welding ? Any kind of clamps that might work ? This car has been a nightmare to find the right exhaust for my liking.

X-pipe resonator delete might do the trick for you with stock mufflers. It's tame when just driving around but sounds pretty good and noticeably louder than stock when you get on it. Just as quiet as stock and no drone at all on the highway or cruising unless you're right at 1250 rpm.

Why does no one else think the Roush Active exhaust is exactly what he needs? It can be programmed to open at any RPM with a completely variable level of.. openness? Or it can be left open. Or closed. Or anywhere in between. For someone this picky, I don't think it gets much better than the Active exhaust. The only drawback is price... but after 5 exhausts in a year I'd say thats not an issue. Is there something people don't like about the Active exhaust that I'm unaware of?
