So I thought these Roush axle backs did the trick but again too loud for me. So I'm wanting to put the stockers back on. Having cut them off, is there anyway to have these re installed without welding ? Any kind of clamps that might work ? This car has been a nightmare to find the right exhaust for my liking.

I don't know about putting your stock mufflers back on, but it sounds like you need Street or Touring model exhaust/mufflers.

What other exhausts have you tried?

I've tried so many I have forgotten what they sound like at this point. I want stock like interior noise levels and a bit of bark outside when i step on it. My car is an auto and it's the 65-80mph constant driving interior humming that drives me bat shit crazy.

Was your Roush axle-back on an otherwise stock exhaust with the stock resonator and cats?

Your car is a year old and you can't remember what exhausts you've had on it?

Most Touring and Street mufflers will be relatively subdued for normal driving and more aggressive when you get on it. Roush makes some of the more aggressive mufflers so any street or touring muffler should be quieter. You might want to consider a 2-way exhaust, too. Look at the "dual-mode" thread.

I love my Touring Axle Backs from Ford Racing. Not too loud, but loud enough when you step on it.

Buy some muffler clamps if you don't want them welded back in. You might need shorter band clamps because of the curve in the location of the cut pipe. Worst case is having to use "U bolt" style clamps.

From what you are looking for, my suggestion would be to have the stock mufflers welded back in (or clamps if you are still against welding, though welding would be best) and replace the resonator with an h pipe or x pipe (I would suggest an x pipe, as an h pipe would probably have a touch of a deeper hum to it). It should be perfect for what you are looking for based on your description. Any catback or axle back is going to be too much, purely based on what you are describing.

I'm going to go listen to the X-force Varex setup tomorrow on another 5.0 to see if it does what I want. I can't see dropping the $ on the roush active setup it's just too dam much.

You can't u-bolt 2 pipes that are the same size and cut flush. In order to use u-bolts one end needs to be flared to fit over the other pipe.

Your only options are to weld or try to use band clamps but I think you'll have a tough time with it being cut right before the curve.

Surprised the Roush axle-back alone was too loud for you. I've been running the setup for about 6 months and love them.

I love the outside tone, but inside I can barely take a 5 minute drive, gives me almost an instant headache. Crazy I've had mustangs since I was 16 all with loud exhaust, I've never had this issue before.

Have you tried to use the clamps that are meant for the Roush muffler/tips? They are really short and might fit.
