My analysis
1) The reason it is "okay" for Starwars7 to duplicate story lines or ideas from 1977 Starwars, is because this allows two things two occur: a) They can verify if the 1977 formula works on kids from 2015. b) This movie took the opportunity to use mechanical props and this helped force people to see much less "green screen" backdrops. It helps set the tone and expectations of this movie and the next movies. (The movie is saying: relax, do not worry about seeing Jar jar binks and a digital Yoda). This was important.
2) I will complain such that this movie has too many spaceship to spaceship combat sequences. (But they did this to help sell toys and to keep kids interested and help them remain in their seats. I did see 2 year olds at this movie for some strange reason.)
3) This movie DOES TRY HARD to be sure the characters are much more than just "standing around" looking pretty. No one in this movie does that except maybe Chewbacca. This movie has a great human feel. Fin and Poe. Fin and Rey. Han and Chewy. It was dramatic yet had the same campy or comical expectations where you would expect it to happen.
4) There is no denying that hiring Daisy Ridley pretty much is going to solve any complaints or issues with all 3 of these new movies. She is 100 percent elegant yet athletic and believable. I saw this in the biggest IMAX theater which exists located in Fort Worth. Interestingly she has her foreign accent but FIN has a foreign accent also but for the movie, he hides his accent and he is using an "American" accent.
5) I am not saying this to be negative, but I think Star Wars fans better be prepared for Star Wars 8 to be similar to Empire Strikes back. Due to how successful SW7 was, they have no choice now except to duplicate ideas from Empire Strikes back and they have to do this for the 2015 Millennial crowd who does not care about older star wars movies. I fully expect something very bad to happen to Rey. She will end up with a mechanical hand or foot probably. Or this will happen to Fin. Look what happened to Luke. It might be more efficient for the next movie to focus more on Fin and Poe. This allows the story to become more original. Fin and Poe could join up with Chewbacca.
6) I would not assume R2D2 and C3PO will automatically have large roles in SW8. They might barely be seen on purpose again to tease the audience.
7) This next movie will likely show upgrades to all of the space ships. I doubt they will keep using X-wing crafts and the tie-fighters. Though it would be less expensive for SW8 to use the crafts they already built.
8) I was in shock and awe that SW7 duplicated so many things from the millennium falcon including the Gun/computer chair which Fin sat down in and everything he saw was a match with 1977 star wars. In one part of the movie, Rey may have used binoculars, and yet again, whatever she saw in the binoculars looked identical to what Luke saw in his binoculars in 1977.
9) The Kylo Ren character would have been the most difficult role to play in the entire movie. I would say to not be too judgmental about anything having to do with this actor and his portrayal. To me it was believable enough and in 2015, the movie will need someone with his kind of appearance for this role. He seemed to look very tall. My belief is if his character was needed for this movie, he did about as best as he could. He was a good choice if he is supposed to be a nemesis for Rey. They had to be careful with picking the person for this role.
10) I am curious how Carrie Fisher could have lost so much of her voice. Harrison Ford still has his same sounding voice. I am glad she is in this movie. It might be good if she can be in SW8 and SW9 if possible.
11) This just made me laugh, but I will bet A LARGE amount of money that the next movie will have a cameo of Lando Callrissian. People have asked this actor about this topic and he says "i don't know" but he probably DOES know. They are keeping things like this a secret of course. Lando seemed to know Chewbacca extremely well. Lando should still live in the clouds I would assume running some kind of business.
12) I fully expect to see Ewoks at some point in either SW8 or SW9. The current video game shows them on Endor, and the video game allows you to drive the landspeeder antigravity craft.
This movie was pretty much a remake but I do not see anything wrong with the movie at all. I do plan to see it again at the Omni Gigantic Imax in Fort Worth.
