Happy New Years Folks. I was interested in getting some headers for my car. I wasn't quite sure how to go about it so I wanted to get some advice. Right now I've got a Gibson catback system installed. With that in place, are long tube headers out of the question? Would it be better to go with shortys? I couldn't really find an exact answer for what I was looking for. Thanks in advance!

Get some Kooks 1 7/8 Long Tube Headers, they make the right connection for your application and they are high quality.

So with the long tube would it be too long for the exhaust system I've already got in place?

If you get a factory connect long tube of any brand, it will bolt up fine.

I have a Gibson catback on my car and I also have BBK long tubes. I had an exhaust shop cut off the 2.5" reducer and weld on 3" pieces to have the connections for the long tubes meet up after I installed them. Dropped the car off in the am and they had the work done by lunchtime.

Did you have the Gibson installed beforehand? Did you notice a difference in sound/power after the headers were put in?

Much louder. especially without cats. I installed the Gibson catback months before I did the long tubes. And once I had them installed I got a lund tune. The car has much more power. I pasted a link to a 4K rpm rev for you to use a reference.

Ok.. You lost me.
Notice on the end of the pipe you can either get a "factory connect" tapered pipe end get the custom, non-tapered pipes. Factory connects are nice if you are using the stock resonator or like a factory sized x pipe/h pipe setup. No power loss with the tapered pipe unless you go forced induction.

Fantastic. Are there any other required parts that I'd have to get besides the header?

So I found these BBK 1-3/4" Long Tube Header that seem pretty awesome. If I got these, do I need to get the suggested required o2 extension kit and mid pipes?

Does the Kooks fit well? I remember reading the Stainless Power design hits the AC bracket and bolt causing false knock.

You can't go wrong with ARH, Kooks or SW. Feel free to PM with any questions and I'll be more than happy to answer.
