Well OP, as you can see tires are like running shoes. Everyone has their favorite, and which one is better: asics, nike, adidas.....who knows? I have driven all of these tires on track and they're all very comparable. So none of them will be light years ahead of another. Until you're looking to shave 10ths of a second off lap times, go with what makes sense to your wallet and is in the sizes that fit your setup. And while you're at it try a Hoosier R7. That tire is definitely a BETTER track tire than the others mentioned, but not at all street friendly.

Point well taken.

That's not DOT legal through, right?
They are DOT legal...not technically a race slick, but they have no tread but for a couple of grooves and are essentially not streetable.

I disagree as well. I have run NT01's a bunch. IMHO they are the best tire for the money you can get. They never heat cycle out. Run them to the cords. Far better than RS3's. RS3's will overheat quickly. I do like RS3's if you need a tire for both track and street. NT01's are all I buy for a track tire now. No more research necessary for me. but I only do 30-40 track days a year so someone else may have more experience.
But NT01's don't come in 19" sizes, do they?

So I have to make a rebuttle here on the NT01's...I was thinking of a completely different tire in that I though that the NT05's were the NT01's.

Correction, yes, the NT01's are a killer tire for the money. The NT05's though...the REAL NT05's, still from my experiences, are not a very good tire.
